Hello friends.
I just traded in my 22 Palisade for a 23 Palisade.
I ended up buying a new tow hitch and tow hitch harness for my new vehicle just like I did for my 2022.
Bought the same tow hitch I had on my old one and it works perfect.
The only problem is that I can’t find where to connect my tow hitch harness.
Anyone with the same issue?
On the 22 model there was a plug behind the driver’s side rear bumper that was very easy to install.
On this one, the harness doesn’t split.
There is no wiring kit for the 2023 for a trailer, which really sucks, I have been on with e-trailer since i got my palisade 2023 model. so they tell me know they are not making a wiring kit plug and play. and this teknosh or what the name is was sold to another company. and they will not be making the wiring kits. i have been trying since sept. 2022 and got nothing. So I am still waiting for a kit and Hyundai has no idea what they will be doing. The trailer hitch itself fits all of them but no wiring, it does SUCK

I called hyundaipartspro a few days ago regarding that hitch. They said that they do not ship it to the US due to its weight. They can ship harness only when the back orders fulfilled.

Yes there is. You just need to order it from Canada. It is currently on back order though. I ordered on 12/26/22 and still have not received mine. Here is the link. S8F67AC800 - Hyundai Tow hitch | Hyundai Parts Pro It will quote you an absurd $86 for shipping, but when it does ship, they end up charging like $15-$20 from what others here have gotten. Whole thread over at 2023 trailer hitch

I just made 2 phone calls to Hyundai US about the 7 pin wire harness for the 2023 Palisade. Gues what? I still don't know any more now than I did when I first talked to them. All that I got was "There isn't a recall for my vehicle". I told her that it just isn't for mine but thousands of other customers that are looking for answers. They don't know the answers either! I asked if you don't know than who does??? Still no answer.

I talked to a mechanic at the dealer where I purchased mine from and he told me that he will have to pull the fuses if he "Sees an after market harness on mine". I told him that it won't be an aftermarket harness because it is from Hyundai. He said that it isn't an authorized part in the USA and that it will void my warranty. He also said that they have seen some aftermarket harnesses causing electrical wiring problems that can cost many dollars to track down and locate where the problems might be located.

So, good luck people with this problem/situation that Hyundai doesn't even have an answer/solution for. It seems like they don't know any more than any of us do. What a great Company!!! I don't want to take any chances of loosing my warranty so I will just have to wait a few more months and call them again if nothing new happens before then.

There is a way around the 7 Pin Wire Harness situation! You can have a flat 4 pin harness installed and then you will have to run a hot wire (fused) from the HOT side of the battery to the rear of the vehicle for the brake on the trailer and then replace the 4 pin flat end with the 7 pin and wire up for the brake. Then you are not going through the factory wire harness under the storage liner in the rear. I called my dealership Service Dept. and asked them about doing this and they said that there shouldn't be any trouble/problems doing it that way, then you are not using the factory wiring. I also had a trailer hitch installer place tell me that is what he does also without having any problems at all.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

What flat 4 harness did you use? Was it plug and play or spliced in?

I have an appointment scheduled to have all of this done next week, that is the soonest that I could get in. I am going to have them install a MODULITE ZCI for the 4 wire connection, that way there will be no wire splicing with no way of any shorts. The signal to the trailer is done by the voltage running through the wires using the sensors with just the flow of the current running through the wires . Then they will run a seperate fused wire from the hot side of the battery post back to the rear and then they will cut and connect all of the wires to a 7 pin connector mounted to the hitch. That way you are bypassing and not using their 7 pin wire harness where the problems exist. I was told by a Service Dept person and by the installer that this should be OK as long as I am not using the 7 pin wire harness. Check out the TEKONSHA MODULITE ZCI on the internet and you will see how it all connects up.

  • NO CUTTING OR SPLICING VEHICLE WIRING!
  • Isolates Trailer Light Operation from Tow Vehicle's Electrical System
  • Works with 2 or 3 wire systems
  • Works with PWM or Multiplexed systems requiring 2 or 3 wire hookup
  • Rated for up to 4.2 amps for turn/stop & 7.5 amps for taillight trailer circuits
  • Works with low side switched vehicles
  • Integrated auto resetting short & overload protection
  • Robust design allows for interior or exterior mounting

The 7 pin harness is availble, atleast in Canada. I just installed it. The pre-wired harness isn't where you think it would be. You have to remove the trunk tray, then loosen a side luggage panel, and it's tucked under there. Looks the same as other years, just in a way different spot. The kit also comes with a brake controller harness for the dash.

The pre wired harness is the little white thing in the top right of the pic. Located tucked under that panel. No wonder no one can find it. The control module the kit comes with is on the left.

Is there a way you can post pictures of the installation guide?

I spoke with a parts guy in Canada and he said the latest he heard from Hyundai on the harness is a delivery at the end of may. I wrote Hyundai and complained. They gave me a case number and said someone will be calling me. I told them this is unacceptable.

I had the hitch and the wiring no touch, cutting, splicing or plugin module installed yesterday. It was costly but there is no way that Hyundai can complain about connecting to their wiring harness. I had the hitch place also run 2 separate hot/fused wires from the battery to the module and one for the brakes, then they converted the 4 pin wires and the brake wire to a 9 pin connection.

If Hyundai owners need a trailer hitch with brakes, this is the way to go!!

I bought and installed (myself) a Stealth Hitch for my 2023 Calligraphy which came with wiring.
7 pin with an adaptor to 4 pin (4 pin is all I need).
I ran a fused power line (included in the kit) to the rear of the vehicle, used an existing bolt for the ground.
Spliced into the wiring on both sides for signals, marker and brake.

Hyundai should have this figured out by now... they advertise the 2023 Palisade (in all trims) pre-wired for towing... there needs to be a class action or they need to fix the issue... I tried to call the dealer that sold me my 2023 Palisade AWD Caligraphy, they said "if it is not on the window sticker, then it is not included with the vehicle" ... a garbage response!!! Hyundai customer service said to go to dealership for diagnostic.... dealer said all harnesses and hitches had been recalled and then saw on a drawing that the connection had been moved from under the vehicle to inside the vehicle...we looked and found a connector that had nothing connected (not even capped) around where the drawing said it would be but it was a different shape than the kit that i had purchased from e-Trailer that came from Stealth Hitch (verified to fit 2020-2023) ....I called Hyundai customer service again and they gave me a case number and said I should get a call back 3-5 business days... on the sixth day (a Friday) I called them back and they said that a case manager should be contacting me on Monday... not expecting any actual resolution without there being legal action taken against them to force thier hand... we will see on Monday what they have to tell me... they can't advertise a vehicle as being pre-wired for towing when it has no connections to make that happen... could hard wire or ZCI like some have done but dealership warned me that it could void warranty on electrical if I was to tap into anything with aftermarket wiring.

That connection inside accepts the new hitch harness that some of us have bought from Canada. It is not individual wiring but now is on the CAN bus. I saw in another post the date of May 16 for the recall to begin so I will assume they have parts available for that. And all the cars did come with the pre-wiring. That is just the plugs in the back and under the dash. All trims do not come with a hitch and harness, only the XRT was listed as that. On all other trims it is an option.

I love that hitch, but at nearly $900 for the parts alone (for the towing version), it's a little pricy for my wallet. Hopefully, the Hyundai hitch will be available before I get rid of my other towing vehicle. And hopefully, the Hyundai hitch will be less costly. I suspect that's wishful thinking... Hyundai will probably stick it to us. 🤑💰🤑
I think the aftermarket hitch manufacturers (Curt and Draw-tite) are missing a yuge opportunity by not producing one that hides behind the trim panel on the 23MY like we were promised by Hyundai.

I think there are some engineering issues with this design. To offset the hitch within the limited space puts some strains on the system that engineers are not willing to put their stamp of approval on. At best, I can see a downgraded version with a maximum load of 300 pounds on the hitch with a 3000 pound trailer.
