Apparently Hyundai Canada has their sh!t together. Another tow hitch thread on here had some pics. The harness is apparently inside the trunk under the hidden lower tray below the floor.

Had my 23 Calligraphy in for first service this past weekend. Since I was there and had time to kill, I asked the parts guy about the Calligraphy hitch (supposed to be hidden behind the panel) and harness. He said he didn't know when either would be available, said the whole harness recall on the 22 and earlier models has everything messed up. I don't need a harness since I don't actually tow, but do want a hitch for my bike rack.

1st pic, upper left rubber grommet. Feel around where that wire goes up behind the plastic. It is there. There is not a lot of slack. The official directions call for you to remove that piece so you can run the wires behind it and also get to a bolt for grounding. I did not remove it. I could get to the plug without removing it and I used a different bolt for the ground.

Hello, first of all, thanks everyone for this info, saved me a lot of trouble and headaches. I ordered the part (Hyundai Wiring Harness Kit - 7 Pin S8F67-AC800) but now wondering about the electric brake on the trailer and how it is hooked up. Recall that in the 2022's and earlier the plug underneath was for a the 4 pin wiring. If you wanted a 7 pin one, you bought another wire harness, plugged the 4 pin plug into that and ran the harness to the front of the vehicle to plug in the brake. So my question is, with this new 2023 wiring harness, how does the trailer brake portion work or how does it get wired?

THe part you orded was the 7pin so it will have everything you need. It is already wired up for brakes/power/backup lights and other lights. Along with that harness for the back there is a short pigtail on a plug for connecting a brake controller. There is a plug under the dash behind the fuses, ( i have seen instructions and pic but have not installed mine yet) that you plug it into. There are only 4 wires and they are what you wire your brake controller to. Of course depending upon the brake controller some of them come with plugs for the different manufacturers so you would not need to do any connecting. Even though all the controllers have the same 4 wires, the connector on the vehicle is usually a different shape or size so that part is kinda unique.

Your controller should come with instructions on how to install and get it wired up. They ususally have 4 wires hanging out the back, connect the same colors on the pigtail and plug it in.

There are also other options for a controller these days, a couple different wireless ones. I have a good Prodigy controller I removed from the truck I sold, but have not determined a good location for it yet.

Thank you TKM. I already have a controller and happy to know that things have been thought through. From what I see then, there is factory built-in wire going from the back to the front to enable a controller to be installed in the front. As you said, the controller has four wires (battery, stoplight, ground and brake) and the front plug beneath the dash should accommodate these - I presume. Now not too sure about the pigtail you mentioned in the back and what that would be used for (controllers with no settings for trailer size and road conditions e.g., hills etc.?). Also does the part I ordered come with the front plug adapter (presumably male) so that the controller can be plugged in?

The pigtail I mentioned was for use with the controller up front. One end is the proper mating plug for the prewire portion waiting and the other end is just the 4 wires. You would hook your controller up to the wires. Years back most trucks had a similar plug up front for controllers. Truck maker would provide a pigtail with matching plug to wire onto your controller so all you had to do was plug it in, not hack into wires. Nowadays for most controllers you can get an adapter with them that will plug into the truck, if not then you connect it to the pigtail to plug in.
For instance the Prodigy had a plug on back of it for the wiring. It came with a pigtail that plugged into the controller and had 4 wires coming out that you could connect that to the pigtail provided by the truck so it could be plugged in. But you could also buy a separate wire that had the appropriate plug for a Ford, one end plugged into the controller, the other end plugged into the truck. I am hoping I can buy another wire from them that has the plug for the controller on one end and a plug on the other end that will plug into a Palisade. Have not checked yet because I may switch to a different controller. There is a nice one out now that the only part visible is a small rotary dial with an LED in it. Nice and neat. And there are not as many places to install my current controller because of that center console thing that in the truck.

OK got it. My controller is a "Pilot" and it doesn't have a plug in the back, just the 4 wires. It was installed on my previous vehicle when I bought the trailer. I think I'm all set, just need to do 4 connections up front and that's it. Man, this is a far cry from where I started on this issue. Hyundai was not helpful at all (I talked to several people...) so TG for this forum. Thanks again and hope you iron out your connections issues to your controller as well. Cheers!

You will just connect the four wires from your controller to the 4 wires on the pigtail which then plugs into the plug under the dash. Some people say it can be difficult to find. Have to look around and covered with tape. Let us know where you install the "Pilot". Finding a good spot that is out of the way is where I am at.

I just looked and that controller new has a plug on the end of the wires. They sell different "adapters" that plug into that on one end and have a vehicle specific adapter on the other end. But I don't see one for the 23 palisade.

Did you order it from that dealer. I got mine at S8F67AC800 - Hyundai Tow hitch | Hyundai Parts Pro, but they may be backordered also.

Yes I ordered from an online dealer in Orleans ON named Pathway Hyundai. Just checked yours at Hyundai Parts Pro and they are back order as well. Called a few in Cornwall and Montreal, all warehouses are backorder. You are lucky, you just slipped under the wire...

I placed my order on 12/26/2022 and am still waiting. I called 3 weeks ago, and was told about the back order, that there are so many US customers ordering, it could be 2-3 months. But orders will be filled in the order they were made.

A guy over at the reddit forum for palisades just ordered that new hitch part from Canada. S8H03AP500. Hopefully it fits and is the new one. Since Canada had the harness before us would not surprise me if the hitch is available there first also. Unfortunately at the hyundaiparts place where you could get the harness they have no pics of the new hitch.
