Causes of bad odors
If you’re smelling a musty/moldy smell (think dirty socks), then what you’re smelling is mildew growing in the system. This is actually a very common automotive problem, and it’s generally caused by running your air conditioning system only on recirculate, and not blowing the fan for a minute or two after turning off the air conditioning and shutting off the engine.
Mildew can thrive in many areas of your car’s air conditioning system, but you’ll find it’s particularly fond of the evaporator core and the condenser. These areas are moist and enclosed – the perfect habitat for bacteria. While it doesn’t really present much of a health risk, it certainly is unpleasant to smell.

Most likely true, but my Limited interior smelled the day after I drove it home. I have to crack my windows after every drive or I get a strange smell every time I open the door. The smell goes away quickly, but always present when I leave the windows closed.

One solution would be to change cabin filter and spray some lysol into the air inlet it worked for me on old truck i had.

Do you drive with the a/c in the recirculation mode or fresh air mode.

I purchased my Palisade Limited Trim with black interior in August 2020. Instead of having a new car smell, the interior has an unpleasant odor, the source of which I am unable to determine. I have checked for leaks, mold, etc. to no avail. I had initially attributed the odor to the fact that the car had only recently arrived in country and had been wrapped in protective covering during transport. However, it has now been months and the odor persists. Due to the weather and driving conditions since purchasing the Palisade, I have not had opportunities to give it a good airing out. Is anyone else experienced this unpleasant odor issue?
My wife and I purchased the Palisade last Fall with the white interior and the smell (garlic like) was so overwhelming we took it back. They tried for two days to air out the vehicle and clean the interior with no success. They took the car back and we took another identical Palisade that just arrived from the factory. It too had the same smell. We have to leave the windows down while parked in our garage or the smell knocks you over as the you open the door. They have tried to clean it as well but now 7 months later it still stinks. The service department there now claims we are the ONLY people complaining of a smell.

Take it to a competent detail shop and have them do a ozone generator treatment and hopefully it will take care of your problem see link.

Even though your palisade may have just come off the truck, it went thru a dealer prep.
Taking off protective plastic and wiping down certain areas as well as checking oil and fluids.
What does your dealership use to wipe the interior with?
Not all, But a lot of the people with smells are from interior protectant protection.
My dealership had an issue and found it came from the dirty cloth the detailer was using.
Like jetech said a good detailing shop should be able to help if you explain why you came to them

My car just developed this same "old sock" smell like a couple weeks ago. We have had it since December. I don't know what it is or what to do about it.

Check out Jetech's answer above. Several mildew brand spray's on market, just be sure and check cabin filter.

if you smell an unpleasant smell its not just you and it isnt anything you have in the car. I bought a Limited Palisade with black interior in October 19. To put it in the words of the Hyundai technician “it smells like old worn socks”. The smell takes your breath away when you first open the door and i have a poor sense of smell. I met a woman with a Limited Palisade with light interior and when I mentioned this her eyes got big and threw her hands up in the air. She told me she purchased the first one the lot sold in July 2019 and had been thinking it was something she had in the car all along. She had been trying for 8 months at this point to get the smell out, but could not.
My wife opened a ticket with Hyundai’s corporate office after taking it to the dealership twice where they order bombed it and vacuumed it to no avail. The techs told my wife they could smell what she was talking about. When corporate(Coyle) called me to tell me they were closing the ticket because (Sam) the service director said it smelled like new car smell i had them hold open the ticket. I called Sam and told him i would see him tomorrow so he could fix his error after we determine he never smelled my wife’s car. Sam opened the door in front of me and pulled back out and acknowledged that was definitely NOT a new car smell. We went back in and I had Sam call Coyle to confirm this, but of course Coyle didnt pick up. Sam and I both left voicemails, Coyle didnt call me back. Sam said he was contacting his director who would advise what they would do about this and would call me back. Sam didnt call me back either. I got home from work today and my wife tells me corporate called her and told her they were not going to do anything to fix the old sock smell in our $50,000 Hyundai and that she could take it up with the BBB. I heard Hyundai didnt have great service before, but seriously?
Same issue here. Bought limited black with beige interior few months ago and can't get rid of this amonia/garlic odor. This is our third Hyundai and was very happy with the purchase, but now getting dissappointed. I hope Hyundai will do the right thing and address this issue and help owners.

Did you get the interior protectant?

You might be right, cuz smell is definetely coming from the seats/leather. I will call the dealer and see if there is a solution that can condition the leather.

We’ve had our 2020 Palisade Limited that we purchased from Demontrand Hyundai in Texas City, TX, for about three months. It has a light interior. It started out with the new car smell. Then it went away and was replaced by a putrid odor. Everyday when we open the doors for the first time. It dissipates after about 40 minutes with the air on or the windows down. We’re not going to live with it. Left it at the dealer for one week and they didn’t smell anything. We smelled it the day before we took it and the day after we brought it back home. When I talked to Robert in Service there wasn’t any interest in pursuing it. Our problem.
We’re going to try a couple of things suggested here and if those don’t taker care of it we will be trading the stink box in on another car. Whatever happens, we will NEVER recommend a Hyundai to anyone. EVER.
Me too. Can't stand the smell when I get in.

I bought one last August an am having the same problem. I can’t believe this. We have had 6 bombs in this $50,000 car. Mine smells like extreme bad breath. We have detailed it to death. It is ridiculous that nothing can be done because I love the car.

Again try several activated charcoal bags in car under seats.
It is a shame it comes to that but most palisades with the
seat odors were treated with leather protectant treatment.
Some dealerships wipe the leather seat down after service
and during their new car prep when received.
the crap some use is a crime.
