We went with the Harbor Freight Haul Master Rack and Cargo Carrier. It was about $170 total. Here is a photo of how it is installed (note the rope wrapped around the first crossbar).

It is high enough to open the sunroof but there's definitely noise. It starts around 40mph and gets louder as you hit 70mph. That being said, it is not so loud that you can't hear the radio or talk to someone. It is just noticeable due to how quiet the car normally is. I would compare it to what it sounds like if you vented the sunroof at speed. Right now, the front crossbar is lined up where the drivers and send row doors meet. Perhaps I need to move it forward or back a bit.

For a fraction of the Thule or Yakima (racks only), it is a very good buy considering we will only put it on when we need it.
Is that basket held onto the front cross bar using just the rope?

No. That rope was put there as it supposedly mitigates sounds. Not sure if I am convinced it does anything.

There are 4 metal U shaped hooks (2 front/2 back) that secure it with nuts. That connection is very solid.
I just got the same set up from HF. Have you taken a load in the basket at highway speeds? Wonder if you’ve had any problems.

View attachment 1690 We went with a $65 universal rooftop cargo basket and a $90 Autoxrun crossbars top rail luggage carrier for our 2020 Limited. Both Amazon orders were quick. The longest possible extended settings were needed for the crossbars but they are solid. Significant rack wind noise at high speed, noise that the kids do not ever notice cause they’re kids. The wind is worth it for a sturdy, functional roof rack for $160. Spent about an hour installing and 30min tweaking it. Happy with it so far. Holds about 150 lb apparently. Extremely pleased with the Palisade overall. Smooth driving on these fast winding Kentucky back roads.
Would you happen to have links for these?

Not yet. Plan to use it on a road trip vacation in July. If there are any issues, I will post but I expect it to be loud but work just fine.
How do you feel about the connection between the crossbars and the roof rails? Zooming into your photo there seems to be very little surface area on the crossbar actually touching the roof rail?

The Thule 4093 fit kit seems to be incompatible with the older 460 podium system (square bar and square receiver "tube" on top of the podium, instead of the new "T" connection on top). However, Thule's product description says the fit kit is supposed to work with the 460 podium and old square bars. Itt isn't on my vehicle. Anybody else experience this? The podium set and square bar worked fine on my Santa Fe. I bought the Palisade and purchased the recommended fit kit (4093) for the 460 podium set for that vehicle. It's impossible to tighten the bar in the podium sufficiently. Even clamped as tight as I can get it, the bar slides from side to side freely. I made an 1100 mile trip on a wing and a prayer with a duct-taped bar, a canoe and a kayak. Hope to resolve the problem before I shell out $500 for the new 460R podium set with the "T" square bar. Thule tech support has been of no help.

wow thats a perfect fit compared to snailfly ones that I returned
Did you return the original Snailfly cross bars or the "upgraded" ones? I read they failed to send some rubber connections, but have corrected that now. Looking at purchasing the upgraded, but was interested in hearing about how yours did not fit well. I also read the bars are specific to front and rear positions, which could effect fitment.

Sorry this took so long to post. We used the rack for about a 2 hour drive to and from our summer outing. On the way down, I most likely overloaded the weight limit (those are the pics below). After I loaded all the stuff, I noticed that the clamps themselves slid down onto the roof rails. As a result, I lifted each one of them to the lip and tightened them some more. The rubber part of the rack connected looked quite squashed but it was rock solid and did not move at all.

On the way home, we had less food, ice, booze, etc, so the weight was likely back within specs. After loading all the equipment, the rack did not slide down like it did on the way to vacation and was also rock solid on the way home.

Bottom line, it's a very good value.

Also, to re-state it, the further back you put the mount, the quieter the ride (for the drivers).

Just wanted to post a final follow-up. We have used the rack setup countless times since then and it continues to work fine. In the end, it was a great value.
