Well, the tech didn't test drive it enough. The jerkiness and thumping is back, and it seems like it's even more pronounced now. Another appointment made with the dealership and I opened up a case with Hyundai USA about it. So frustrating...

Something I have discovered though (and I think a few other posters mentioned this): the thumping and jerkiness happens when the vehicle is at operating temperature but not when it is cold.

I've been having the same issue for years now. Jerking while turning from a stop. Feels like 4-wheel drive is engaged with full front wheel lock. In 4 services they could not find the problem. Finally a dealer replaces the center coupler. I helped for a bit, but the problem returned (or never got solved). Issue is that problem is sporadic. Sometimes it's so noticeable you can hear it and the car sakes, sometimes it's minor, sometimes it is not there. I'm at 80k miles so worried warranty will run out before they fix it.

At the last service appointment, two techs rode along with me (one was driving, the other was in the back seat). The tech that was driving locked the differential and he was able to recreate the noise and jerking. In turn, they ordered a whole new rear differential assembly and yet another coupler. I get those installed the day after Thanksgiving. Vehicle is currently at 46.5K miles.

Not sure if you all figured this out since it’s old. I have a 2020 palisade AWD and started noticing this. I have a warranty so I was determined to figure it out. First they thought it was the rear suspension, so they replaced that and it continued. Come to find out it was the rear differential causing the issue. It was trying to engage to AWD randomly causing it to jerk. Replaced this and the car drive great. Replacing this makes the ride much smoother across the board. Hope this helps..

My palisade is jerking when I am accelerating/Turning left from a complete stop. The car is fine when I accelerate straight, but it jerks when I drive turning left slowly. Any one knows the possible issue?
Mine done the exact same thing. Just got the rear differential changed and it completely fixed the issue. Car drive great.

after repeated trips to the dealer they also determined it was differential as this is what I was suggesting. 2020 with 70k miles. replaced the coupler july 2023 and the same thing is starting to happen again at 80K. dealership says I have 1 year warranty concerning. if the coupler is locking up I am sure the diff is obtaining wear and damage

I also have been dealing with this problem for the past 6 months. 2022 Palisade SELAWD w around 20k miles that I bought certified used. The problem became more frequent and severe over time and I just put it in for service this week. They verified my concern, found no scan codes, unplugged the rear coupler actuator and the problem went away leading them to replace the rear coupler actuator: 47800-4G500 Coupling Assy - 4wd. Diagnosed and fixed in 1 day, covered by warranty. Picked it up yesterday and all is well. Hopefully that is the extent of it, we'll see if it ever returns. Just adding my experience as this thread helped me.

Just dropped off my '22 AWD for the same problem, 37k miles. The car felt like driving with welded diff when making turn. At some parking lots with slick surface, the tires keeps squeaking when making turns at very low speed. I was about to change my rear diff oil thinking that would help, until seeing this post... Immediately schedule an appointment instead.

In case this helps anyone to "reproduce" the symptoms, I simply told them to "Drive and make a left/right turn at 10-20 mph, the car will jerk". Interestingly, if you let off gas while making turn, the symptom goes away. So the car has to be under some kind of load driving to reproduce the symptom.

The service rep sort of know what's going on, cuz he added "the car is sputtering". Described the issue perfectly. The tech identified issue with differential coupler. Covered under warranty. Although, I also suspect some rear shock issue cuz it also made intermittent clunking sound at 5K miles but tech wasn't able to reproduce issue when I brought it in the previous time.

Looks like this is definitely a problem and weak point to Palisade. I'm not sure how long will this new coupler last... Looking at the part #47800-4G500, not sure if it's mechanical issue or software issue.

I'm experiencing a similar issue. After a repair six months ago, the jerking has become more severe. I recently took the vehicle on a three-hour drive, and the issue was quite alarming. It seems like this problem might also be related to the vehicle's automatic shutoff feature. Sometimes, when I accelerate from a stop, the vehicle makes a strange noise, as if it's mis-shifting gears.
