Correct. I had it installed after market at U-Haul. The 7-pin adapter is also from Curt (#58000 Easy-Mount Vehicle Trailer Wiring). Not the prettiest but liked it better than other options and was easy to do

I just picked up my 2021 last week. I presume all the tow bars for the 2020 work (manufacturers say they will).

The 2021s supposedly are prewired for a 7-pin so I figured I might as well install a 7-pin harness. Mostly I’ll be towing a small 4-pin utility trailer but I have aspirations to tow something bigger some day.

Does anyone know a source for a 7-pin harness that plugs in to the factory pre-wire plug?

You can try a local specialty car place. They might be able to build you the wire harness you need. Or, you can now buy one from E trailer.com. If I were you, I would go back to the dealership you bought the vehicle from and raise the issue with them. I have done this, because it is not reasonable that you purchase a new car that is suppose to be able to tow 5,000 lbs, but you cannot buy a 7 pin wire harness from Hyundai. This is a known issue with them, but they are allowing the customers to work it out and pay out of their own pockets for a solution, which I do not think is right. I feel this is false advertising by Hyundai. Good luck.

Unless you buy the tow package, most other manufactures don't include the 7 pin connector either.

I ended up installing a four-pin to 7-pin adapter on my new 2021 Palisade,and an Autowbrake on my Casita travel trailer, so that I could tow it with the Palisade. Since then I have towed the Casita on two trips, both of which involved mountain roads with steep descents and sharp turns. The Autowbrake seems to work very well. I am very relieved to have found an effective solution to the problem of not being able to get a brake controller and 7-pin wiring harness for the 2021 Palisade. Also, the techs at Autowbrake were very helpful and expert in helping me get the device installed and working correctly.

I am going to try this option using the auto rate. If you don't mind, did you still run the wire that goes all the way to the battery? I read on another forum that there is a hot wire somewhere in the back if the Palisade.

On the 2021, the extra hot wire is ran into that 12 pin connector pre wired into the car. Check out the video I posted. I explain it all and show you how to do it.

I am not sure if this is helpful but on the 2021 Santa Fe Limited/Caligraphy it also comes pre-wired for 7-way on that trim (4-way on lower trims). Here is the connector but I cannot find any harness for this thing!!

Any help would be appreciated. I have heard they are still working on the 7-way connector for Santa Fe & Palisade.

Correct. I purchased the Kia Harness last month and installed it. It works everything correctly. I used an Echo wireless brake controller so I did not install a wired brake controller but others have with success.

I too purchased the KiaHarness 7 way harness- Plugs right in at the rear wiring harness behind the driver side rear wheel under the plastic box cover. The wiring for a brake controller up front is also included. That connector is taped up behind the fuse panel in the cabin near the driver's seat. IF the brake controller has a connector on it, you will have to cut it off and direct wire it to the new clip connector included the the 7 way harness kit. It took my husband and I less than an hour to hook everything up. Easy Peasy and everything works flawlessly. Kia Part #S9F67-AC500 7 pin kit for a 2021 telluride.

Hi, Sorry I did not see your question earlier: Yes, we ran a separate line alongside the 4-pin harness to connect the tow-vehicle battery to the line the hot line in the trailer's 7-pin harness.

OMG: Can't believe I didn't think of this! Even more shocked that neither Hyundai engineering, nor the service centers at the dealerships I went to, nor the techs at the RV center thought of it...... Grrrrr

Or has short wires with connector to fit a different vehicle. Easy to extend wires and connect to factory wiring or possibly buy a complete connector (male and female) and pop extended wires into them. Est total cost before taxes...about $300 Canadian.

Ok, so I did the KIA 7 pin harness with the curt echo controller also (2021 calligraphy) and I have to point out the wires on the KIA harness are at least one size bigger than the factory Palisade harness. I did check under the hood, and we do have a 30a fuse for the trailer brakes which is what is required for the CURT echo. I will be pulling a travel trailer with a 3899lb dry weight, so most likely right at the 5k lbs max tow weight with our stuff inside, and will most likely be needing a better charging setup as I love batteries and know the factory alternator can put out a whopping 160a! So my question is - how many people have a dedicated charging circuit for your camper batteries and what is your setup? Also a video for reference of what I did as far as mounting - I know the hose clamps have to go, they are very temporary.

Hi can you show how you removed the cover from the rear driver side in order to access the pre wiring? I have a 2021 as well and I see that there are three plastic “bolts” that are easy enough to pop off with a flat head screw driver but then I also noticed two plastic nuts on the cover as well.....do these need to be removed too? I can easily take pictures tomorrow and send if I am doing a poor job of explaining myself!
