Hello friends.
I just traded in my 22 Palisade for a 23 Palisade.
I ended up buying a new tow hitch and tow hitch harness for my new vehicle just like I did for my 2022.
Bought the same tow hitch I had on my old one and it works perfect.
The only problem is that I can’t find where to connect my tow hitch harness.
Anyone with the same issue?
On the 22 model there was a plug behind the driver’s side rear bumper that was very easy to install.
On this one, the harness doesn’t split.

My understanding since they recalled EVERY 20-22 Palisade is that the fault lies in the factory installed harness that is tucked up inside the bumper that the trailer harness then plugs into. I read an article that basically said crud and water can collect in the pre-installed harness which causes the short and fire risk.

^^^ You should be fine..... the recall is just for the Hyundai installed hitch and hitch wiring harness.......... like mine

I just unplugged all 3 fuses under the hood that control the trailer hitch. We don't trailer anyways....... hitch came on the vehicle. Not a bad thing to have on a vehicle like this, as you never know when you might need to trailer home a new toy !

There is no wiring for 2023 yet unless you cut the wires and use generic harness. Not a good idea. I was able to get to the connection point inside on drivers side. It's easy to get to. Need to take back tray out and pull dust plug. Not a lot of play in wire to do much with. It is not the same place as previous years and with no harness yet nobody has done a video.

Here's the complete solution for a 23 model. There is NO factory wiring in the box in back of the left side rear wheel--EMPTY. My 2020 had the wiring but apparently the recall situation for Palisade trailer wiring (summer 2022 recall) resulted in the deletion of factory wiring plug. The kit in the attached picture gets the wiring fixed with no cutting. Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy the part and install from a trailer dealer--the part will be about the same price as online AND the installing dealer may warranty it. This is NOT an easy install--took the dealer over an hour: you must remove the tail lights and run a wire from the battery under the hood back to the tail lights. The hitch is a DrawTite 7620 which is marked as a 20-21 Telluride.

You'll notice that NO cutting was required to the bumper fascia. I wrestled with this problem since getting my 2023 Limited in July 23--I desperately needed the trailer (strange--Hyundai marketing shows the 23 Palisade towing a boat and the 2023 models all have the new tow mode setting). Hyundai doesn't even offer a hitch for the 23. In August 2023 Draw Tite added the 7620 to their list of hitches for the 2023 and boy, does it look a LOT better than the ugly factory hitch on the 20 - 22 models!

I included a copy of my install invoice for the whole story. If you live anywhere near (it's worth a 100 mile drive) my dealer, do yourself a favor and contact them for your install--incredibly helpful, friendly and competent!

Apart from the shape and positioning of the connector itself, there appears to be at least one other significant change in the tow prep wiring between my 2021 and 2023 Palisades. The one heaviest (30 amp?) wire that was present in the former is completely absent from the latter. That suggests to me that Hyundai has totally abandoned any attempt or claim of accommodation for 7-pin wiring and trailer braking. So how can they continue to claim towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs for the 2023 Palisade as they do here?

Not to be a disbeliever but pictures are NOT proof. If you own a 2023, pull the box cover where the wiring should be located: EMPTY. One can't plug a harness into an empty box and expect success. Further, the pictures showing the "20 - 23" hitch show the "20 - 22" hitch; the dealer parts departments do NOT have a '23 hitch available. That said, the 20 - 22 hitch will bolt up to the 23 but is not offered as a factory approved part. I took the time to offer what does work and is available as a service to others looking for a solution today. Simply, I have no time to respond to conjecture about pictures and plugs--if you want to tow with a '23, I provided a solution. If you want to explore ideas and hope for a Hyundai solution, sorry, I can't participate.

In a discussion with my wife Hyundai Customer Service was adament that it had the cooling and was prewired. She did not realize to ask them about the location of the plug. And it is more than sad. It has been difficult getting straight answers about this. The car is advertised and sold as being able to tow 5000 pounds. That is a big selling point. If you cannot do that with factory parts there is a problem. My wife was told that adding a 3rd party wiring may void the warranty. Of course I don't believe that if they have a plug-n-play option like was available on earlier models. Maybe the change was to get around the fire problem they were having. It seems like better information could calm a lot of people. As to the cooler you could be correct that the coolers they install are good enough. But every other vehicle I have researched or owned always had to add an additional cooler for towing.

has anyone considered suing Hyundai for false advertising or misrepresentation. their brochure says the 2023 Palisade across all models is trailer pre wired. Myself and it seems a few others on this form have the same problem of not having the car pre wired , and have to pay for third party for parts and installation

I will certainly check behind the passenger tire tomorrow. But others are saying it is attached to the bumper near center of car. It would seem that Hyundai would like to have all this settled and could put out some information. I am scheduled to take it to dealer, but first available spot is Nov 2. The other dealer is scheduling in Jan. Wonder why it is so hard to get into the dealers.

I looked behind the passenger wheel this morning. Nothing there. Just open space. There is a plug attached to the back side of bumper about midway. That could be it. It is not like the previous plug though. It is a different shape so the old harness will not plug into it. Only Hyundai knows for sure. I have a service scheduled for Nov 2. They are supposed to show me the wiring plug when it is in there. I guess I also need to have them show me the extra transmission cooling also.

I am in the same situation.
just got the car on 10/14 and was planning to start towing my camper but no luck finding the connector under the bumper driver side.
The connector in the middle of the bumper is for sure different and has a bunch of wires… not sure why you’d need this for towing.

The clip on Tekonsha is great but it is 4 pin only, ie no trailer brakes…

Let me know if you find a way to get a 7 way connector installed

If the connector on the bumper is the prewire like the connector on the 22s then it will have all the wiring you need for a 7way. And it will be wired into the plug under the dash that is where the brake controller will plug in. They just need to get the harness ready. The harness will have a plug on one end that connects to the one behind the bumpre and the 7pin rv plug (or a 4 pin flat) on the other end. That is the way it worked previous years. And hopefully how it works on the 23s once they get their act together.

And yes it is terrible that they are advertising this car as ready to tow 5000 lbs when it is not. You could accuse them of false advertising.

The 7 pin harness is availble, atleast in Canada. I just installed it. The pre-wired harness isn't where you think it would be. You have to remove the trunk tray, then loosen a side luggage panel, and it's tucked under there. Looks the same as other years, just in a way different spot. The kit also comes with a brake controller harness for the dash.

The pre wired harness is the little white thing in the top right of the pic. Located tucked under that panel. No wonder no one can find it. The control module the kit comes with is on the left.

Is there a way you can post pictures of the installation guide?
