Thanks Eric, most helpful info. There is a link to a video of the procedure which is interesting.
I see the old wiper arm is straight and the new one is cranked, which would give it extra clearance from buildup of ice and snow in the cowl. I can see it would help, but I can't quite get it into my head that it is a real response to a wiper motor that seems (they describe it as) to be fundamentally weak for the job.
Do we know if the cranked arm is fitted to the later models and/or whether the motor is the same or has been replaced with a stronger one?
I ask out of engineering curiosity, not because I want a new wiper motor. I suspect the motor is buried behind the instrument panel and dashboard and I wouldn't want anyone taking all that apart.😨

Last I read when this first came out was later models had different motors and that's why they didn't have this problem..
I could be wrong but I see it as a cheaper way to fix it...

My wipers failed the same day I got the email for the recall, I called dealership and they said no one at the dealership will be available to fix for a month and they cannot tell me exactly what caused failure. I had a similar issue with third row folding seats failing and I checked fuse panel and that's where I found failed fuse, I changed it and all works just fine for the past 2 years. Just checked the fuse for wipers and guess what, yup failed fuse switched it out and wala! I have wipers again. Need a fix without waiting a month with no car, go buy a pack of 15amp fuses for five bucks and less than five minutes be done with it. Think these dealers are full of crap trust none of them! Hope this helps someone!

New wiper recall
This recall is a joke anyway. The only thing they do is replace the drivers side wiper arm with one that sits higher off the windshield. The logic is so it lets more snow go under the arm so it doesn't stop the wiper in areas that get heavy snow. Why don't they install a stronger motor that can push the snow.

I find it funny how they originally said it was the motors and the new models wouldn't be affected by this because they got better motors... Now look where we are...

It is the motors but they only want to spend $20 per vehicle to replace a wiper arm rather then $200 to replace the wiper motor.

So I just got the recall done and noticed the driver arm now leaves about 5 inches to the edge of the windshield from the interior view. This is probably 2-3 inches more then the original blade. Is there an easy way to adjust the stop point of the blade to make it go an additional 2-3 inches?

The only way to adjust is by removing the wiper arm. Keep in mind that if you adjust it to raise 2-3 inches more at the top then it will also raise up 2-3 inches from the bottom.

Thank you! The dealership definitely put it on way to low (see 1st picture below). In down position it was sitting under the passenger side wiper blade. I actually watched a YouTube video on adjusting the arm albeit on a different vehicle I gave it a shot and it worked. All I needed was a 9/16 socket wrench and some patience. Simply pull off the circle plug at the base of the arm (hood needs to be open and wipers need to be in service position) unscrew bolt, pull arm off (wiper needs to be in bent position off glass), move arm to correct position, retighten bolt and put plug back on.

OK. so here is additional information regarding the wiper problem. I have a 2023 Palisade and this past weekend had a HUGE problem while in snowy weather in Colorado. I had the recall of the driver's side wiper issue and had the wiper arm replaced last summer. While driving this past weekend in Colorado during a wet snowy storm snow came down from the top of vehicle and the wipers were on the "Auto" setting. Suddenly the wipers failed to continue and stopped working. I tried several times to restart the wipers using any setting and they wouldn't work. Luckily I was able to safely pull off the road and had to clear the wet snow from the windshield and the wipers then started working again. Then about an hour and a half later the same thing happened again. However, this time I was driving on the freeway in heavy traffic and was not able to safely pull over. I was able to barely look through a small part of the windshield for about 2 miles until I found an exit where I could pull over away from moving traffic. This time I tried removing all the wet snow from the windshield. I also had to open the hood to clear snow from under the hood near the wiper arms before the wipers would start again. Today I went to my local Hyundai service department to have the wipers and motor inspected and they indicated that everything checked out as normal. I will be contacting Hyundai corporate and the NHTSA and this is definitely a safety concern.
 
So can you help me understand how the new wiper arm is improved in a way that presumably prevents the load building up on the wiper motor to the point where the overload cutout operates? The wording of both letters specifically identify the wiper motor as the root of the problem and I am left wondering whether a new arm can really fix it. Also, how has this been addressed in production on vehicles that are not subject to this recall?
The replacement of the wiper arm doesn't fix the problem. I had my driver's side wiper are replaced on my 2023 Palisade. I witnessed my wipers suddenly stop working on two different occasions this past weekend while driving in snowy weather. I reported this to my local dealer and to the NHTSA. Hyundai needs to do better. Perhaps the answer is a stronger wiper motor.

I had the same issue on my 2022, twice recently with the snow accumulating UNDER the wiper, causing it to stop wiping while driving. I had the recall arm replaced 4 months ago. At least the paperwork says so, but the wiper is straight causing me to wonder if it truly is the new one. I read that is shaped differently. I just stopped by the dealership yesterday so they could "tighten the bolt" because while driving in heavy rain with wipers on full blast, it started hitting the far edge of the windshield and then completely stopped while driving on a freeway. The dealership knew right away that they needed to tighten the bolt because of how many people have come back with this same issue. We have another appt tomorrow...
