I have owned a 2009 Azera, 2013 Genesis, 2014 Santa Fe, 2016 Genesis, 2020 Santa Fe, and 2021 Palisade. All ave had the same defect. When I owned my 2013 Genesis, the dealer replaced the windshield twice and the problem persisted. Good luck on obtaining a replacement.

 

This is a fairly common glass defect and not brand specific. I have had several different makes of cars over the years and many of them had some kind of windshield distortion. Usually most noticeable when looking through them at a horizontal angle.

 

When turning around the corners and panning harizontally, the distortion is so annoying.

 

I have the same issue with mine. Unless it's really bad I would live with it. I realize it may be hard to 'unsee' once you've noticed it, but any replacement is probably going to have the same issue - maybe worse. I had a Lexus flagship LS460 with that problem - the windshield was replaced due to a stone crack and the replacement (OEM) windshield was optically inferior to the original. You're only asking for more potential problems (hidden paint scratches during installation, leaks, sensor calibrations, etc) by having it replaced. The factory does the best job of installing and calibrating the windshields.

 

Thank you all for your responses. I was going crazy not knowing what was happening to my vision, trying to squint my eyes, cleaning the windshield, etc.

 

The way these windshields have been cracking you'll probably be replacing it in a few months anyway.

 

Yeah got a year and 2 months out of mine before it was replaced. Optical defects in replacement but different defects from the original.

 

The distortion he see's is not head on distortion. It's horizontal distortion out of the side of his eyes. In my 30+ years of driving I've experienced this on many vehicles I've owned. I said that in my post that it was my personal experience.
