Had a chip in the window that I had Safelite come out and attempt to repair. That actually made it worse, as the tech said might happen during the fix. Had to schedule a replacement, which they had to do at their offices because of a camera calibration recall?

Pros -
Everything handled smoothly through web/smart phone.
Was quick (about a hour).
They do camera re-calibrations if done at their offices.
Palisade feels much much quieter with new glass
Cons -
Sent me a quote for what insurance paid, not what I owed, which seemed odd??
Safelite will hound you forever about their windshield wiper blades, which seems stupid as an upsell.

And here we have manufacturers spending millions and decades to make 1dB change in overall quietness of a car via changing structure of vehicle, soldering points, sound deadening cavities, vitro deadening calculated areas, redesigning joints, suspension, spending billions in aero chambers, hiring hundreds of engineers from around the world and so on. And then comes a dude who cracked his windshield and decided to install an aftermarket cheaper option from Safelite in the driveway and ........ BAM .... much much quieter ..........:ROFLMAO: 🤡

Getting our 3rd replacement tomorrow at Safelite (windshield #4). This last one was a very tiny chip crater, which on any other vehicle I've been able to address with one of the w/s repair kits auto parts stores sell. Just touching it with my finger made it crack and run about a foot. Starting to wonder if w/s is a poor fit and these are stress cracks - but that doesn't explain why so many impact craters. I think the glass is simply under-engineered.

I had the same problem lol no trucks only smaller cars. I took mine to the nearest Safelite and they replaced without any issues. After having the new windshield the cover behind the rear view mirror came off?? I was like what the heck is this!! So tried putting it back but it was coming back off. So I took it back to them and the tech said that they get so many windshield that they don’t know if the windshield is good quality.
my windshield got replaced for another one and so far it’s working out great.

I have a '22 Palisade Limited. While on the road, heard a small tick against the window. Stopped, checked the windshield and could find nothing. A few days later, it was very hot out. I parked the vehicle outside the garage in front of my home for about 20min. We came out and left for dinner. At that time, the winshield cracked from the left pillar where the glass starts at the edge and is dark colored all the way to the upper center of the windshield. I guess the So Cal heat expaned the glass and make it crack. weak glass? Stressed? Who knows. Contacted Safelite, but it was very difficult to deal with them, especially trying to get a live person (who knows anything). Very frustrating navigating through their AI system. Anyway, they only wanted to install an aftermarket windshield because State Farm tells them all they will pay for is aftermarket and the remaining charge is on the customer. As I understand, the Palisade Limited and Calligraphy has special glass and if you don't order OEM glass, the HUD will not project properly.

Meanwhile, I contacted the nearest Hyundai dealer. They wanted $1836 for the Glass and another $600 for installation. I contacted All Star Glass (also nation wide). No Ai to deal with, talked with a live agent immediately. Knew exactly what I needed and indeed said the OEM glass was better and displayed correclty. They charge $1400 for the same OEM glass plus install and reclaibration. But I am thinking about the next time. Will it be just as easy to crack and destroy the glass again? If so, I would suspect a defect and will be watching very closely. All Star Glass agent told me the OEM glass could only be ordered from the Hyundai dealer. So you can't get it anywhere else. So State Farm would have to flip for the entire bill because of that. Once they reinterrated that fact plus also talked to them about safety concerns, etc. They caved and approved the entire bill and I have zero deductible, so nothing out of pocket.

I also have a 2017 Toyota Tundra that has taken many small hits on the road, and it hasn't failed yet. Gotta be something in the glass design. Too many perople complaining about the same thing.

UPDATE to the aforementioned incident:

I have less than 2000 miles on the Palisade and guess what, it happened again 😭
So yesterday, a small rock ticks the bottom right corner above the wiper blade on the passenger side. It immediately spiders out about an 1" +. I took a photo of the chip, covered the chip with a piece of tape to prevent air from getting into the chip. Called All Star Glass and they will see in a next few days if they can repair w/o replacement. If not, another new windshield will have to be ordered. Unbelieveable, that would be 3 windshields since owing the vehicle since may 2022. Can't belive my luck,,,,a curse (lol) who knows. But this is very frustrating, I have had small rocks hit my other vehicles and fortunately, never any damage.

I also noticed a small crack, about 1 1/2" long from the right center edge 2nd passseger moonroof. No apparent damage from the outside top and appears to be from the inside of the glass. Have read several complaints about the moonroof glass exploding for no apparent reason. Just more headaces. I have also heard the dealers tell customers to contact their insurance to fix the moonroofs. Seems like a problem with the factory glass used. But how to get them to acknownledge any problems as I can't deny a rock initially hit the windshield, but deny anything hit the moonroof.

Welcome to the forum
My insurance is with Geico, I have 100% glass coverage. When mine cracked, It was replaced by Safelite.
They told me Geico would only replace with after market glass, it would cost me $900 more if I wanted OEM
Safelite has a warranty saying everything will work as OEM. It didn't the HUD was all double vision.
I took it back and they then replaced it with OEM at no added cost.
^ maybe try this route
