Installed Side Steps

Installed a set of side steps. My wife is just about 5 feet tall, and she wanted them to make it easier for her to get in and out. She likes them, finds it better for her.

Got the steps on Amazon, there are multiple options.

They seem to be fine quality, only time will tell. Plenty strong, I counted 13 bolts total attaching them on each side. Took about 3 hours to install, including the mud flaps that came with the steps. I would suggest the install of at least the front flaps, they will keep junk off the steps, especially in winter weather. Trickiest part is putting the rubber trim from the old part that you need to take off onto the step.

Some pics with a few pointers. The instructions are horrible, but there are multiple You Tube videos that are really helpful.

This is what came in the box. Plenty of hardware, there were a couple of extra items.

Here is a shot if the finished product.

Another showing the front mud flap.

There are plenty of bolts on each side.

I put the Palisade on ramps, much easier with the side higher. Used my floor jack to lift the steps into place. Was working my myself, this made it easier to get the first few bolts in.

No, no holes to drill, even for the mud flaps.

Another hint - found that by laying the step on the ground lined up where it will be installed, I could see which holes in the Palisade I needed to insert the nuts/screws into, and which ones would not be used. A couple of holes are lined up with clips in the step, so you need to leave those empty. Putting the step under the Palisade before you insert the hardware helped a lot.

There was nothing draining from any of the holes. I will say that there is signs of a yellowish colored thick liquid that has drained from some of the door drain holes at the bottom. Can't say for sure what it is.

The perforation warranty is 7 years/unlimited miles, so I would think they expect it to last at least that long.

I really don't know. Maybe you could have a look at one on a dealers lot, so you can compare. I agree if the body didn't change, especially in the area below and between the doors, they should fit. If the wheel wells are a bit different, the mud flaps could be an issue I suppose.

Those are what were on my 2020 Limited AWD Becketts Black with Beige interior Unicorn when I got it. Nice post and write up.

I considered the automatic steps, and decided to stay away. The wiring was not straightforward, lots of cutting and splicing, not plug and play. The motors are exposed underneath, I don't think they would stand up well to New England winters. If you are away from the snow belt, that may not be an issue.
