Yeah i read the manual too and posted elsewhere here prior to going to my car and finding the option was not really present in menus that i or others could not find. The car makes a gentle chirp no horn. ** Please if u find it and get it working please let us know, would make my wife really happy

Nope played this game earlier not in US. I think they believe its rude to Lock/honk. Little Chirp + Lights or Car ALARM. Sigh.

 

I don't know about you, but I love listening to my neighbor come home at midnight and honk his horn when he locks the door.

 

My wife's Sentra does this and I hate it. It's so loud. I like my quiet beep. And the side mirrors flash on my SEL.

Plenty accurate to get you close enough to your car to find it. I suppose if you were in a parking garage and on the wrong floor it could be misleading.

The manual reference posted above talks about horn feedback if you want to confirm the car is locked, by hitting the lock button a second time on the remote. So just to clarify, it doesn't look like the original locking of the car produces the horn sound, but does a second press on the fob do it?

 

You just get a chirp that can be barely heard. Even though the manual says otherwise. To find the car in a lot you can use the panic mode to beep the horn loudly and flash the lights. There should be a way to make the chirp much louder ot r for an optional loud horn honk but there is not. An aftermarket alarm could do that with the same remote. I'm looking at adding a louder device that would help with the chirp volume.

 

I have the limited Palisade and double pressing the lock , on fob , doesn't sound my horn. Just the chirp and flask the turn signal

 

I have been bitching about this for a while. Hyundai is doing a job of pissing off my neighbors at 430 AM.

 

Are you folks (without the horn on lock) in the US? Should't even be trim dependent. I have an SE with zero options/packages. Default behavior is the horn beeps when you press lock (twice). First click you'll only see the lights flash, 2nd click you'll get the audio feedback.

Little Chirp or Loud Blast of Horn.... In USA and only get little chirp as noted. Lights and chirp. If your next to car say at home easy to here. In parking lot at Costco and don't quite remember your row and exact position within forget about it.

That's what I'm doing in the video I linked. I'm clicking the lock key on my key remote fob, and on 2nd press the horn sounds. Which is exactly the behavior the manual describes as well.

 

I think I know what's going on. @xerostatus has an SE. @Mickey, you have an SEL with options. Meaning you probably have the smart key.

Page 3-4 of the manual talks about the regular key (not smart) and does state that if you press the lock button a second time within 4 seconds, you will get the horn feedback.

Page 3-8 of the manual talks about the smart key. It does NOT state that you will get the horn feedback.

Page 3-105 is for instrument cluster type A and B (aka not the Limited) and does show a setting for this. Page 3-125 is for instrument cluster type C (aka Limited) and also shows a setting for this. Clearly the manual is wrong and that setting is not available with Smart Keys. At least that's my guess. There are enough errors in this manual that it wouldn't surprise me.

You are probably right. I do have a Smart Key with the 5 buttons as shown as Type B on page 3-8. I was talking to my service manager a few hours ago about the wind noise fix issue (in another thread) and asked him about this issue. He said he would check into it.

 

I don't think it's been mentioned here but for those of you that want to find your "lost" car in a parking lot, just hold down the "panic" alarm on the key fob and once you are within range you should know where your vehicle is.

Yes, I much prefer the quiet beep and turn signals flash compared to a loud horn toot. I mean, I guess if you are at a sketchy mall or live in a sketchy neighborhood where you want to advertise to everyone you just locked your doors, then you might want the loud horn, but otherwise the quiet beep is preferred.

 

I'm coming from an '04 Honda Pilot...the chirp is an upgrade for me.....

 

I have the 2022 Palisade Calligraphy and no the horn does not sound.

 

I would like a "quiet" chirp over the nothing I have now. Locking now with the remote requires "looking" for the lights.. a nuisance. And, Yes.. by hitting the lock button twice on the remote you can get a horn blast.. and the attention of everyone within earshot.

 

How/where is the chirp setting? Or is this a trim dependant feature? I would love to have the chirp but all I seem to have is a horn blast.. if/when I push the lock button on my key fob twice within a short time.
