Coming from an '18 Explorer Platinum myself, I believe the side proximity alert was made possible if you had the Active Park Assist which unfortunately the Palisade does not have. It only at most has the back up and pull forward via remote. The active park assist had an additional 4 sensors (2 on each side of the car).
