Shock Issue

I have replaced 4 rear shocks in 50,000 km. It’s definitely not because of abusive driving or heavy loads. The dealership tells me I am the only owner experiencing this issue. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

The issue is leaking fluid on the exterior of shocks which requires premature replacement. An average shock should last for apx 7 years - even longer the way this vehicle has been babied. The dealership is investigating further with Hyundai.
Typical replacement for shocks is 30,000 miles. Some last longer, some do not.

I am getting one replaced right now as well.
Having four shocks fail in 30k miles.
MAJOR ANNOUCEMENT!
We had the same issue. we discovered it after the car started to make rough sounds and took it on. At first, the dealer tried to play it down and blamed the issue on my wife driving on rough roads or towing heavy stuff. ( we don't even have a towing kit installed) or we didn't rotate the tires or inflate them properly. After I reminder him that I took it to them to replace oil, rotate and inflate at the recommended intervals, they advised my wife that her only solution is to buy new set of tires. soon after I emailed the company executive team, the service manager call ed us to take the car in.. and what a surprise.. Old then did they discover that the shocks need to be changed and... he stated " You opened a big can of worms in Korea" !!! WTH??? They are working on redesigning the shocks obviously because they have the wrong equipments on!!!! They are intentionally defrauding consumers. On top of this, he called me today and it will take another 6-8 weeks to get them in.. MAYBE!
I filling an official complaint with the state and with NHTSA | National Highway Traffic Safety Administrationhttps://www.nhtsa.gov. It's my first Hyundai and I'm chocked how corrupt their culture is. BTW, the service manager told me that the issue became an international problem!!!! DO NOT GIVE IN.. FIGHT BACK !

What were you noticing from your shocks? I have a 2020 and for quite a bit now we can audibly hear what I call a crunchy thud noise from front and back when going over bumps or through very small normal "dips" (like drainage things). I'm thinking it has something to do with shocks or suspension maybe? It comes from both the front and back at different times depending on the road.

I would hear a low volume clunk in the rear when for example driving slowly over a speed bump. The tec also noted a stain on the shock from leakage.
My shocks are shot too, but the dealer is telling me it’s only the rear ones. Did anybody have the fronts fail as well? The ride has gotten significantly worse lately, and a was hearing a knock or pop from the drivers side rear.

Just my rear shocks were at issue which was fixed with a repair kit that Hyundai came up with.
Got the rear shock mounts replaced according to the service bulletin yesterday...
This morning, cold, thumping noise was just as bad. Sounds like I have loose apples rolling around the cargo area of the suv.
Trying to get it back in ......
Unless it's linkage , I see no other answer except the shocks ...
I'm at 18k mi. ???
47k $$$$ Car ... ???
I'm hoping there isn't pushback on this issue ... !?!?,
My Palisade has a build date of 0ctober 2019, so it's one of the earliest ...
So my dealership corrected the issue. They didn't even attempt the TSB, they just replaced the rear shocks. It fixed the knocking or popping issue, as well as the rough ride. Rear shocks replacement (only) fixed my issue, nothing was done on the front shocks. I have a 2020 Limited with about 25k miles. It was covered under warranty, but would have been a $1k+ repair had it not been covered. Hope the next set lasts, or they didn't replace the old shocks with another defective set.

I have a feeling they're going to nitpick in my case, the TSB reduced the level slightly , but didn't reduce the frequency of the noise intrusion .... when you slow down in a parking lot or on an irregular road it's there ....
The Solution I Dont Want to Hear is ..... Wait until it gets Worse ....!!! I've been down that road before and it always gets worse, it the meantime you're driving around like that making your monthly payments !
2020 Limited here. I'm having this shock issue on the drivers side rear shock. It feels rock hard, like it's locked up. I do tow a small camper, but the car has never been overloaded. I actually noticed it when towing as the car was riding higher on the drivers side due to the 'locked up' shock. I recently rode over a few speed bumps, straddling them so only one side hits...and the passenger side is nice and buttery smooth and comfortable, but when going over it on the drivers side it nearly throws me out of my seat (and I have a 6mo old that rides on that side too). I made an appt with my dealer for Dec 1st with the goal of them replacing the shocks.

From this thread it seems I should accept nothing less than replacement. I'll give an update after the appt.
Ok Guys ...... I was lucky ..... Just happened to hit a really on the ball Service Mgr. And Assts. at the dealer I chose .

Finally replaced the 2 rear shocks after the shock mount fix was a waste of time....
And I gotta say, I don't think the car rode or handled this good from day 1 .....!?!??
I mean A LOT of Noise and thudding around in the rear is gone ....
SUV feels more sure footed, especially highway speeds on curves....
All of the low speed clunks are gone .... !!! It's like newer than new !

Now all of this points to one wonky thing .....
I'm not putting a pair of $1k shocks on this thing every 18k miles ..... Yeah .... almost 3 years to the date , that's only 6k a year...!?!??
Something is obviously wrong with the internal design valving of hydraulics and gas inside these OEM self leveling shocks ....
And Hyundai better stop screwing around with the waste of time less money shock mount TSB ..... and get on the problem of a better shock design. !!!

Man , I've had 3 Kias, and other vans and cars ..... I dont think I've had to replace shocks in 25+ years of driving ... !?!??

My Palisade is a pretty early build 2020. .... 10/2019 .... But they have not addressed this at all on the latest models.
I think part of the problem is people are driving around in Palisades with a deteriorated rear end, they get used to it, and say nothing, until it's making enough rattle and noise to shake your fillings out of your teeth ...???

I hope to enjoy some peace and quiet for another 18k miles ...lol.....

I had to cancel my appt due to some scheduling issues but I made another appointment. My car is simply uncomfortable to drive, and we have 2 young children (3yrs and 7mos). If this genuinely is a shock design problem which I would absolutely believe - I may see about just replacing them with the non-leveling shocks from the other Palisade models if they have no issues. Anyone know if that's possible?

That is a great idea! I don't know if it is possible, but would love to know what you find out just in case my replacement shocks start giving me problems. Please keep us informed!
Our 2020 Palisade Limted edition with 55k miles had the same problem. It got to the point where i would not drive the car. Every time we went over a small bump like a sewer it was like being on a bucking Bronco and getting whiplash. The funny thing is that we didn’t even know this was a correctable problem. I guess it snuck up on us. We went to the dealer and complained about another issue which is that every once in a while when we turned the wheel left it would hit a hard stop and make a loud thud. The dealer ended up replacing the struts and socks and needed to order a $1,000 part. They held our car for a week and gave us a loaner car while they tried to figure out the problem. E just got the car back and it’sa Snith ride again. Night and day. I don’t know if the turning issue was fixed yet. The dealer didn’t say that this was a common or known problem. We did buy an extended warranty so we didn’t have to pay for the repair but I’m not sure if it would have been covered by the regular warranty.
