Phone mount...good place?

Has anybody found a good mount and location for their phone? So far the only thing I'm looking at is a magnetic magic mount but still haven't found the best placement for it. Suggestions and pictures are welcome.

I made a magnetic mount to fit between the seat and the console. Works better than anything else so far and doesn't block a vent.

So the phone lays flat on it? How did you make this? Maybe I can make a variation of it where the phone is standing. I agree with not wanting to block any vent.
The magnet is made by Bestrix and is made for a vent mounting point. I just mounted it on a thin piece of black-painted sheet stock. Very easy and perfectly located for me.

Very nice. I'm definitely interested in this piece. Might be able to mount it elsewhere. For a vertical stance.

Saw this by the same company as well. It looks interesting. Might be good for mounting in different places and vertical phone position.

Are you using Android Auto or Apple Car Play through your phone on the Palisade? I'm genuinely curious as to why easy access to a mounted phone is needed.
Yes I do use android auto. I just like to have it accesible.

Show us what you come up with.
I decided to use a magic mount dash variation which I've been using in another car and works great. Very clean, looks great and works great. The placement might not be for everyone but I think it's perfect for me.

Kept it simple with a magic mount. Very minimal yet effect. Placement for me is perfect. Might not be the best for everyone though.

What size sheet stock did you use? Bought from Amazon?

I like this idea with no vent blocking. So did you just slide the sheet stock in and it stays or you had to use some adhesive?

I like to use my phone to see the route overview (all upcoming turns) in Waze/Google Maps when using CarPlay. Hate that it puts those on the phone and can’t use infotainment.

The stock is just dry erase board from Home Depot painted black. It’s long enough to be pushed between the seat and console all the way to the floor. Cut it to width and depth you deem necessary. You’ll probably do a little experimenting here.
Apple carplay makes a car mount for my phone useless. I use Waze and phone only so there may be other reasons for mounting that I'm not aware of.
To each there own, it’s their car..... That said Apple car play and Android auto and blue tooth audio make it unecessary. I just place phone where Hyundai intended on the rubber mat next to the drink holders. Agree that as much as like the interior design this was not ideal as a drink could spill. Though most phones are water resistant now a days so there is less risk then caution would indicate especially compared to a few years ago. Note as well there is a pass through channel between upper phone/dink area and lower compartment so can route the usb cable down if you prefer to leave your phone down there too.

I just go something very similar to this but it doesn’t really work because the dash actually sits at an angle where it would mount. Then then arm sticks out at a strange angle to accommodate that angle.
Here's a mount specifically for the Palisade:

Here's a mount specifically for the Palisade:

Looks good.. but pricey ($50 with the holder + shipping)

I'm wondering about 2 options
a) I'm guessing suction cups won't hold up during summer heat ? (ie. the glassy area to the left of the radio screen is wide open as far as I can tell).. ie. something like: https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-APPS2Car-Universal-Powerful-Strongest/dp/B07K1QPQSZ/

b) and/or I'm guessing similar concern to a top-of-dash suction such as : Amazon.com: VANMASS 2020 Industry-Leading Zinc Alloy Universal Magnetic Car Mount with 6 Powerful Magnet, Long Telescopic Arm, Enhanced Gel Suction Cup, Dash Windshield Vent Phone Holder for All Phone&Tablet

I am currently getting by with: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B016GNYZIC
which I bought for previous car and was intended for the CD-slot... which we don't have.. BUT so far it's working as a vent-mount. (tho I'm hunting for other solutions)

thanks
Mike

I have a ProClip unit on my Dodge Charger and have been really happy with it. Looks like there's only one option currently through them.....

I've tried 2 mounts now

very minimalist.. close to dash.. 2 issues..
  • magnets are not as strong as 2nd option
  • it's parallel to dash, which is slightly angled away from driver
  • in theory you could rotate it 90 degrees and create the angle, but I've found that my phone will slide/rotate unless I orient the "rectangle" of the metal plate and magnet to be taller vs. wider
so then I tried

much better magnets.. the swivel allows you to correct for the dash slant.. but a little bouncier than their CD-slot-mount version (which I've used for the past several years).

But for now I think that's as good as I can do.

I have it mounted on the glass to the left side of the Infotainment

I'd give it an A-, but not sure I'll find anything better.

EDIT: I prefer the magnetic mounts... I have a case and just put the metal plate inside the case glued to the case (not the phone) so that it doesn't mar the phone in any way. I have my OLD mount (also Koomus) and am thinking of shaving down the magnetic pad and adhearing that to the minimalist option at a 90 degrees offset so I can mount the minimal sideways (so it can angle the phone back at me), but have the longer side of Koomus magnet pad angled up/down to give the better "grip".

Just so you know, you’ve attached the picture twice. In the one that’s attached to the post and not in line with the text, your personal info is still showing.
