I was chatting with an owner like me who has a "garlic breath" like smell in his Palisade when the car is parked with the windows closed and he suggested we try to get a count of the folks on this forum who are in our same situation and still having the issue. I know there have been other threads on this in the past, but I'd like to take a current pulse of the forum. Please reply to this thread if you have a Limited with the Beige interior and have the foul odor problem. Thanks!

That is with the Lt Beige Nappa? Have you ever had something spill that had the potential to stain? Did it come off?
Beige interior looks great but can easily stain form many things!

Can you send some pictures of exactly what you are talking about? Has staining been an issue for you. Was it still stained after cleaning? Did you clean immediately after the staining item came in contact with the seats. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
Grand children spilt cherry drink on 2nd row seat. Cleaned off with cleaner conditioner protectant,
and you would never know it was there. Cleaned as soon as we got home.
I can picture some spills that might do a permanent stain, but mine still look great.
Cleaned off blue jean color a few times, came off easy
Mine is a 2020 limited
Great to know. Those cherry drinks can be brutal.
Thanks, John. Two additional questions for you: 1) has the smell gotten better over time? and 2) what, if anything has the dealership done for you?
Smell is better in the winter, gets worse in the summer. Took my Palisades to the dealer and they deodorize my head rest. Smelled OK when I picked up the car but the next morning the smell was back however it wasn’t as bad. I live in Arizona and we have a couple of warm days and it’s back again very strong when the car is parked and windows are up. Call back the dealer they said they will replace the head rest with new. I hope this works I bought my car in February 2020. Been trying to get this taken care of for a year. I also have Wind noise issues issues.

Also in AZ and have had no issues with smell or wind noise, guess I was lucky.
Hope they get your head rests replaced soon.
I have a 2020 Limited with beige Nappa interior...dealer finally replaced all headrests 2 months ago. When I picked the car up, there was a strong, but not unpleasant scent in the car. That scent is mostly gone now and the garlic odor is coming back! Has anyone else had the same problem?
Can somebody spare me reading 7 additional pages of this, and tell me if the issue was the headrests, the 'interior protection' product, or both? And finally, is this still an issue on 2021s? Hope not :). Thx.
It is the headrests. It has nothing to do with the after market protection. Does not seem everyone has the issue. I have a 2020, so I cant comment on the 2021s.
Yes, garlic odor. We have to leave windows cracked while it’s parked in garage! It’s gross. I’ve called service on the wind noise. They say no fix yet. I’m waiting to take it in to address all issues.
I purchased a 2021 Pallisade Limited moonlight cloud with beige interior in Nov 2020. In the last few months, I have noticed the dreaded garlic odor I heard about. I have scheduled a service appointment and noted the Hyundai service Bulletin 20-BD-018H when I called. there is a deodorizing procedure the dealership is supposed to follow and if that does not resolve the issue, the dealership is supposed to call corporate. I also complained to corporate about this issue but have yet to receive a response.
1. Odor: I took my Palisade to shop recently, presented them with service bulletins and info on class action suits. They told me they had to try 2 rounds of some sort of cleaner, then if it did not work they would replace headrests.
Mine got better for a few days after cleaning, but now is back and I will proceed with step 2.
2. Wind noise: Garage told me it was due to insulation or weather stripping around door and it was an official recall. They had to order part as it was on backorder (recently arrived, I haven't scheduled install yet).
Good SUV except for above. I hope they can fix.

They need to pay you for your time… requiring two or three tries for a Known Issue is total BS,

Definitely agree! I would request to see the directive you were told about, in writing. If they say it was based on verbal discussion, still insist on seeing written proof. The service department will likely change their approach. Definitely not good PR to have written directives that amount to wasting valuable customer time when dealing with a known issue.

I posted this a couple of hours ago in a different thread. Have a 2021 Palidade Limited with a beige interior, build date Sept 2020. The dealership was great, did the recommended treatments then ordered new headrests. Although there was a mild odor after replacement, it was liveable. It has been about 2 months and the smell is back with a vengeance. Today I pulled out all of the headrests, aired it out, and let it sit in the garage for about an hour. Opened the driver's side door, and bam hit in the face with the odor as strong as ever. My worst fears may have come true, this smell is in the seats and/or other parts. Just called the dealership and they suggest I call Hyundai customer service, as obviously, they have no clue what do about this. In doing some research (how I found this forum), apparently, Hyundai has opened two technical service bulletins on this (TSB) 20-BD-018H in October 2020 and TSB 21-BD-002H in January 2021 informing dealers about Palisade smells and what to do if owners complained. Also, there has been at least one class-action suit filed Hyundai Palisade Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Smell and at least one case of Hyundai having to buy the car back under the Lemon Law Hyundai Palisade had Their First Buyback After Smelly Headrest Complaints | Law Commentary.

It's not a foul now because the headrest were changed. However, when it is warm or hot out the smell is there. Not as strong but when I have a new passenger they sure notice it. I've reported it to Hyundai customer service and received a case number. The other problem is getting an appoint with the closest dealer.

I also had that problem, but I thought that was part of the new car smell that I hate. For the first month of ownership, I left all the windows open overnight, in the garage. I use Bath & Body Works Car Sence and it cleared up the problem. I always get compliments on how good my car smells.

After 3 years, It still stinks inside car if windows are rolled up
Yes, I crack the front windows open every time I pull into the garage. My Limited was built in June, took delivery in August.
Kinda hard to crack a window in a parking lot
