Owners of Limited w/Nappa Leather Beige interior

I was chatting with an owner like me who has a "garlic breath" like smell in his Palisade when the car is parked with the windows closed and he suggested we try to get a count of the folks on this forum who are in our same situation and still having the issue. I know there have been other threads on this in the past, but I'd like to take a current pulse of the forum. Please reply to this thread if you have a Limited with the Beige interior and have the foul odor problem. Thanks!

What is a "vehicle vaccine "?
It is a chlorine dioxide treatment. It is wonderful, but you may need to do it twice. Pretty cheap to do.
New owner here. Have been following this forum for a couple of weeks since I some how came across it. Very informative. I also have the Limited with Nappa Leather Beige interior with the "Smell". I called my dealers service department to set up an appointment for them to validate the issue (smell) and then I called the Hyundai Care Center at 800.633.5151 as mentioned in an earlier post and told them of the issue. They gave me a Case Number and then when I went to the dealer for my appointment I gave them the Case Number that was given by the Customer Care Center. The dealers service department validated my concern with the smell and said they would forward their findings to Hyundai.
My service appointment was on the 9th of July and I followed up with the Customer Care Center on the 10th and let them know the dealer validated the issue and was awaiting guidance from Hyundai. The service manager told me to check back with them the following week. I called them on the 15th of July and they said they were ordering new headrests and would notify me when to come in.
Once I get the call that they are in I will update the post.

That is good, maybe others will try the same approach rather than DIY.
Same boat here, limited with leather beige interior. Every time we get into the car the smell is overpowering, often described like 'onion rings'.
My wife bought a new Elantra nearly 8 years ago (Black with Tan leather) and had the leather protectorant? applied. I test drove a Palisade yesterday (Limited with black interior) and the smell reminded me of the Elantra's "protected" smell. Just a thought ...
My white Limited with beige Nappa, built in March 2020 in Korea, has the STINK, to the point that my wife will not drive it. It makes her hoarse, with dry cough and tight chest. I too thought originally it may be connected to a dealer treatment but it is not, it is definitely the foam or adhesive in the headrests, and possibly in the seats as well. I pray not in the headliner. I am opening a complaint with Hyundai. They have to know what this is and how to mitigate. It is unacceptable. A $50K car that makes people sick? Seriously?? We are embarrassed to invite anyone to ride in it, and are going to make some noise if this doesn't get promptly handled. It's that bad...

@sniffer This definitely appears to be limited to the beige interior. Best to work with the dealer on a loaner, especially if your wife is experiencing discomfort. As an amateur chemist, I’d love to know what is off-gassing given how resistant it’s been to common cleaning solutions. This one is a head scratcher.
It is not limited to the beige interior. I have the same horrible odor in black leather. Nothing seems to over power the odor, have tried numerous attempts to at least hide or cover the odor.
@Don I think your the first non-beige interior to post that you have the rotten egg smell.

Same problem here. I haven't addressed this with the dealership yet. I spray Frabreeze into the headrests. That temporarily gets rid of the odor, but it returns.
Was the foul smell not apparent during the test drive? Did it show up days weeks after ownership?

In my case, I purchased my vehicle from a dealer about 300 miles away and had mine delivered. The test drives at local dealership did not have the smell.

However, I contacted Hyundai and they assigned a Case # and Case Manager. In addition to the smell, I am having them address the wind noise and rear vibration (local Svc Ctr has confirmed both issues). Also, I had a strange experience last week. After backing out of a parking space, I attempted to put vehicle in drive. The dash board lit up and said, "Shifter Malfunction, Service Immediately). The vehicle locked up and would not engage any gear. I called Hyundai Roadside Assistance. I subsequently turned the vehicle off and it would not restart...total blackout on the dash, except Service Immediately notice. After 15 minutes, it restarted and I drove immediately to the Service Center. As you might figure, they could not duplicate the issue and said the onboard computer did not show anything in the history.

The Hyundai Case Manager asked my to arrange to take it back to the Service Center, letting her know when I do. She will deal directly with the Service Technician in addressing each of the issues. I will post the results when I get this done.

BTW, I only have 2,300 miles on the vehicle. Took delivery in late March, 2020.

I’ve had my palisade for 4 months... it stinks. And is driving me crazy.... is there anything that can be done?
Noticing our Limited with Beige interior has the "garlic" like smell coming from the headrests (have less than 200 miles on it - April 2020 build date), however, it's currently blended with the "new car" smell so it's not super noticeable unless you actually sniff the headrests... I'm hyper-sensitive to the smell though given the known issue. If the garlic smell doesn't dissipate by the time the new car smell dissipates, I'll bring it up with the dealership.

If you haven’t read this thread yet, do so: several owners have come up with ways to resolve or mitigate the issue. The thread is several pages long:
our dealership did a “vehicle vaccine” treatment on ours and the garlic smell is completely gone

I opened a ticket with Hyundai Customer Care and took my vehicle in last week. They acknowledged the smell and said that Hyundai was aware that the smell was coming from the headrests. However, they do not have a fix for it. They said they would notify me when Hyundai finds a resolution.

I have owned the 2020 limited beige interIor since Nov 2019, still have the smell. Like everyone else I thought it would lessen over time but it hasn’t.
