You’re doing it right… download the navigation updater program, then use that to download the files to your 64 GB+ USB stick.

Currently, the most recent update (May 2023) is temporarily unavailable for all cars with the standard Gen5W system with navigation. So you’ll have to check back later when it is actually available again.

When you finally do get the update files on your USB, make sure you choose “quick update” when given the choice on the screen. But realize you are incredibly far behind and will be in for a multipart update. So there will be at least one time, probably even twice, where it looks like it’s done but it just keepa going. That’s normal.

Also, remember that your main home screen will change from your current three-tile setup to the modern dark, vague map home screen. A lot of people don’t realize this and are unhappy. But that’s how it’s been for the last six update versions… it’s here to stay.

Thanks. This is exceptionally annoying for me. I haven’t updated since the first vacuum bulb theme was introduced. I just out of the blue decided to update and land smack dab in the middle of an update blackout. Of all the days and weeks to pick to randomly update. Been getting back late and haven’t had the energy to open my rarely used computer.

You can always check the notifications page with the current downtime estimation. Yesterday it changed from June 4 to May 25. So maybe it’ll be back sooner than expected.

You can also check the page that shows which vehicles presently have downloads available. Once you see the Palisade and other cars with the standard Gen5W system listed, you’re good to go.

Updates are back online.

Mine updated properly as well.

Only bugaboo is now my Cplay2Air will not auto connect. Worked flawlessly before, now I get the “turn on CarPlay or Android Auto on the phone” message every time I go to CarPlay on the radio. If I connect the phone to the USB cable and then plug the Cplay2Air dongle back in it works, but a fresh car start and I am back to the message above.
Anyone else with this problem for CPlay2Air or similar wireless carplay dongles?

It updates with the car turned off.

Mine failed doing the regular way while driving, then it prompted me that it would retry, and then it will also prompt you and tell you that the update will continue even with the car turned off.
