[Benga’s Calligraphy]

Hello Palisaders,

Just picked up our 2023 Calligraphy, very pleased except for one thing… the issue is the voltage. The ELOGPS was sending notifications that the voltage was low (8.8 to 9.0 versus the minimum 11.0) and the Surround View Monitor function will not work because it requires at least 40% vehicle battery charge. I was told it could be the battery after sitting a long while, so I took it in to have it looked at. The service technician said they could find no problem with the battery and the fault must lie with the GPS. The dealer had a new GPS in stock and swapped the item out thinking the problem would be solved.

The problem was not solved. The Surround View Monitor still will not function because is says the battery must have at least 40% charge. Furthermore, the new ELOGPS was never “registered” with my car when it was swapped out, so when I look for my vehicle in the ELOGPS app, it says it is at the dealer with the mileage I drove in on… meanwhile our Calligraphy is in the garage.

Anyone else have a voltage issue straight out of the gate, and then have things get worse when a simple battery swap should have fixed the trick? Suggestions, reenactments or similar circumstances are welcomed. Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't have to do this, but take it to an autozone or advanced auto. They will check your battery and charging system for free. They don't have a reason to tell you its fine like the dealer does. I have a '21 so possibly different systems but have never experienced what you are seeing. Very possible to have a bad battery and with newer vehicles sometimes there is more than one battery.

Have Autozone do a breakdown test on the battery. They will put the battery on a load to see if it can overcome the resistance. It will also check the alternator to see if it will assist the battery for the load given.

Thank you for the quick advice everyone. We stopped by Advance Auto Parts and they ran a 10 second check, literally 10 seconds!!!

I'm not having much faith in these dealers. You probably even could have diagnosed this one with a DMM (digital multimeter).

Very interesting, although it does not answer the real question which is WHY? Just curious if you found more information elsewhere on this topic, “no one else’s works either“ just doesn’t fly for me…

So glad that someone mentioned this, thanks @a2robtx ! Is it “normal” for a Palisade battery to register at 42% with just over 600 miles on it? Is there anyone outside of the US that actually has this functioning feature? Pictures? Thanks Palisaders!

If you have an automatic battery charger you could try charging the battery. A charger that puts out less than 2 amps would be best since the Palisade has an AGM battery.

I just ran my AGM charger on my BMW last night. Works like a charm. I don’t want the computer to show I did anything…warranty.

Just following up on the loose ends to get this thread in the archives. So, our Pali did have a defective battery (which was replaced by the dealer at no charge). The surround camera feature is something that does not work on ANY Palisade that I was able to research online, I was simply misled along with many of you to think this feature would work by it “appearing” on the BlueLink app. No more voltage issues, no future for functioning surround camera 👎🏾 Carry on Palisaders!

Just wanted to say thank you for following up with your final result! I have the same issue on my 2023 Palisade calligraphy and have been searching for a legitimate answer. Stumbling on this post was refreshing because it's rare to find someone on a forum that posts their final results! Normally they just disappear into the sunset!!! I genuinely appreciate this conclusive post Benga!

@Wstiger you are correct! I checked ours last night and it had a new update and required accepting of new terms of service and voila! Ours is parked in the garage but the pictures are, yup, our garage. I will have to try this out now when we are out and about. Glad this finally works!
