The first mod for my Palisade is swapping the old bulky light-less mirror for a new frameless with compass and HomeLink indicator.
Almost plug and play except for the wires on the new mirror need to re-arrange to match the factory harness. 10 minutes job.

I have to say that was one of the few things that I noticed that was deficient on the Palisade vs the rivals - the bulky mirror vs the frameless. That looks great, nice job!
Thanks! I also disable the Homelink feature that won't work when ignition off. So if someone smashing my windows they won't be able to open the garage doors. That's one of the flaw for most Homelink mirrors.
On the factory harness, there are 4 wires coming to the socket: ground, constant, switched and reverse. On the mirror harness/plug, remove the constant wire and connect that wire to the switched wire will disable Homelink when the vehicle ignition off. You'll have to mod this with either OEM mirror or upgrade frameless mirror.
I've been using dashcam for the last 7 years, had Lukas, Finevue, Garmin and a few cheap ones but they've all failed both hardware and/or software. I also had 3 other Blackvue dashcams on my vehicle and found them well build and features rich. They are pricey but I wouldn't want anything less.
Yes! that is the issue I have w the current homelink, it works without ignition on.
So the upgrade you can program the homelink to only work when car is on?

How do I know which wire is the ground, constant, switched, reverse?
SO I need to splice the constant wire to switched wire and then put back into harness?
Using a plastic panel remover or flat head screwdriver and gently pry off the middle section of the cover behind the mirror then you'll have access to mirror harness. You can start at the gap between the headliner and the plastic cover. It'll come out easy.
That's all fine, but what I'm trying to find out is how to actually get to the harness/plug. What I want to do is tap into the power wire to run a radar detector. On my Limited, there is a plastic cover that prevents seeing the harness.

Thanks for the info. We have a white limited and I am bummed about some of the silly things they didn't do, like not backlighting the buttons on the mirror. Tell me, were you able to discern whether or not the buttons are capable of lighting on the original, but perhaps not wired? I have a 2015 Genesis and the mirror lights on that. A used one on Ebay is only 40 dollars. Maybe it can be switched out.
They must order the mirror without the lighting buttons, the same for door courtesy lights, overhead switch.... You can get a used mirror on ebay and swap out the whole unit but the wiring need to re-match.
received new mirror, switched wires in the new mirror harness, programmed the homelink. works great. Now I uninstalled mirror and will attempt to make homelink work only when ignition is on per onexcite's directions by splicing wires. wish me luck!
Green wire in mirror harness connects to Red wire (constant) in factory roof harness, White wire in mirror harness connects to Green wire (switched) in factory roof harness.
About to cut the green wire in the mirror harness and splice into the white wire in mirror harness. This should work right guys?
The switched wire on the mirror side for auto dimming and compass. Now you can connect the HomeLink wire to it then everything will only work with ignition on.
