Just finished the install of a factory OEM Telluride hitch on my 2023 Palisade XRT. Turned out even better than expected. Still waiting for my Hyundai wiring harness from Parts Pro in Canada. I had to trim the removable panel which was the hardest part. Made a cardboard template then transfered

to the panel and cut with a jigsaw. I think this is the intent of a factory hitch….not to look like it was added as an after thought.

The Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade are both owned by the same company and share all their chassis between the two companies. The chassis are the same. Same brakes, same shocks, same engine, same transmission etc. I would bet money, that when Hyundai eventually releases their hitch for the 23' models, they will share the same hitch as well. I know this because they added the removeable panel that the hitch hides behind just like the Telluride. The 20-22 models did NOT have this this. Why else would the removeable panel be there? It serves no purpose other than putting a hitch behind it. In my opinion of course.
ahhh, very good point.. i knew they shared the same platform, so i was surprised to see the 20-22 hyundai hitch was set below the bumper unlike the 20-22 telluride.. but i agree, why have the removable panel on the 23 hyundai if they are not planning for a different hitch for the 23? hopefully they will get this crap figured out before i need to take your route and start this project myself!

Buying and installing the Telluride hitch was the easy part of the project....maybe two hours by myself, really not bad. It was making a cardboard template, transferring it to the removeable panel and then cutting the panel that took all the time. I estimate maybe 5 hours on that (mostly due to me checking my work over and over again so that I did not mess up a cut)!
i wonder if the hyundai hitch cover will fit on the palisade? does it resemble the size and connectors of the hyundai removable plate??

I am sure the hitch cutout and the 7 pin bracket are located correctly, the overall shape of the removable panel is quite different then my XRT panel. Mine has sharp corners, the Telluride has smooth corners. I also read another another post someone else tried to utilize the KIA panel and it would not work. That person had also used the Telluride hitch like I did.

ah ok. hopefully hyundais hitch for the 23's will be in this same location as the 22 hitch so the new covers will fit over our installs.. if not, it looks good like you did it.. we just need the frickin wiring harnesses to become available now!!

You can order the OE 7 pin wiring harness from Hyundai Parts Pro of Canada. I ordered mine like 3 weeks ago, supposed to be here by May 10. All 23' Palisade owners in the US are doing it, the guy had orders for like 84 of them when mine was ordered. Not sure why they are available in Canada but not US yet......

nice job.. where did you get the trim to cover the cut edge?
A friend gave it to me. He said he bought it at AutoZone. I also see where you can buy it on Amazon.

The whole trailer hitch issue on the Palisades has been a total mess, to put it politely. From the badly worded recall of the wiring harness for the 20->22 models and then the un available hitches AND harness for the 23's... heads should roll.

Since Hyundai USA does not seem to care to inform customers, maybe we can find emails or numbers for people at Hyundai headquarters who care that there reputation is being tarnished by this fiasco. I have also been trying to find emails for the different writers/magazine that give such glowing reviews to ask why they don't follow up on how bad this is. How the car is still advertised as a tow vehicle when you cannot get the parts. They are changing somethings.

I have had cases open for awhile. Last chat I asked if they were still going to provide me the hitch and harness when available since it was supposed to be standard on the XRT. They said it is not standard, but an option. I asked since when and they looked it up. Was changed in Jan. I told them I have copies of web pages showing it was standard. I even have an email from customer support agreeing it was a standard feature. I sent them all the evidence and waiting to hear back. On all trims but XRT hitch/harness was listed as option. On XRT was listed as a standard feature.

Excellent, you should be proud. The latest date for the harness is now May 26.

Was thinking exactly the same thing. That cover on the rear number should serve the purpose of hiding the hitch and the plug when not used. Will not be exposed all the time.

CONGRATS! Wish I could do this with my 2022 Palisade. But because of the recall, none of the certified hitch resellers/installers. It would be great if Hyundai would come up with a solution to this problem ASAP.

Thank you! Very helpful! We just purchased a Burgundy Palisades w white wood interior (sorry don’t know Hyundai’s interior name) but can’t get trailer hitch from dealer due to still unresolved wiring harness recall. Are you saying a removable panel hides this hitch when not in use? I don’t need harness just yet, but want hitch for bike rack.

I don't believe it will hide it. That panel in the middle of the rear bumper will be replaced with one that has cutouts for the reciever and plug. Will look like on the Tellurides. Some people have even installed the Telluride hitch and modified the panel themself. I don't imagine Hyundai will build a separate hitch for the Palisade when in the past they have shared parts with Kia. And the Kia part still bolts up no problem. The bumpers are different so the panel part from the Telluride will not fit.

I was waiting for a harness as well. Called U-Haul and found out they have done a number of 2023 palisade wiring for trailers. I bought my hitch on eTrailer and had that installed locally and now I have an appointment at U-Haul for them to wire the car. $121 installed. Contact your local U-Haul dealer and see what they'll do for you.

I am aware that U-haul has an aftermarket wiring kit that does not spice the wires but it also does not use the Factory prewire plug either. For my 7 pin, U-Haul would install a 4-pin connector first, then use a 4 to 7 pin converter to make a 7-pin. They then have to run a power line from the battery back to the 7-pin. The OE Factory one is a plug and play type which I much prefer.
