I parked in the garage and a box fell from attic and caused a dent on the driver side front pillar. Planning to take it to body shop. Most likely will do out of pocket fix. and how much cost I am looking at for this fix? though it looks small it may require a total panel replacement due to paint job.

Appreciate any pointers how to handle this?

I think most of that should pull out. Dent repair has come a long way recently. A little filler and repaint and good to go.

Take it to a good body shop, not the dealer.
Dealer will just send it out to the cheapest body shop they can find.

I would first check with a paintless dent repair guy before taking it to a body shop.

body shops will repaint, and that's a last option in my book.

The post is not open, it is a closed pillar, so no painless repair. It will have to be pulled and filled.

yes, I know it’s not open from the back. A paintless dent repair technician can pull some dents from the outside by using glue, and tackling the dent completely from the outside.

That is a high carbon structural steel area, ain't gonna' happen. It will be drilled and pulled, then filled. I was in the business for 35 years.
