If it’s legitimate it must be a new Hyundai policy. I would be interested to know what Hyundai has to say about this.

 

I am buying a Hyundai out of state currently and dealership has given me no issues… from Ohio, but I travel for work and am buying my car in South Dakota.

 

I purchased a new Hyundai from Pohanka in Fredericksburg,VA on 12/07/2021 and am from IL. They registered and titled it in IL and applied correct sales tax too. No problem. They also have another dealership near DC off of I95.

 

My wife and I just purchased a Palisade SEL Premium from a dealer in Ohio and we live in Pennsylvania. Your dealer is feeding you a line of bull!

 

Dealers can sell to anyone that has money............Period.

 

Got ours in MS and live in AR...

 

If he is starting out with a lie, you don't want to deal with him any way
He wants to get paid for the maintenance on the vehicle, low volume dealerships make their profit on the maintenance.
He would find a reason for you to have the oil changed every 3500 miles no matter your driving type.
He maybe doesn't want to go thru the tax and registration hassle with your state.

I'm in PA and bought mine in MD. I was also in conversation with several dealers in VA who had no issue selling to me in PA.

 

I live in SC, bought my Calligraphy in NC.

 

Thank you so much, folks! I scratched that dealer off the list, as you said, someone who starts with a lie will keep pushing lies. I am looking for a balanced version that is harder to find. White AWD SEL with Convenience and Captain Seats. If you come across one, please let me know. Great to be on this forum.

 

Check with West Broad Street Hyundai, they were really nice when I was looking. Newport News dealership’s were very nice also. I bought mine from Hyundai of Chesapeake, I’ve never been treated so poorly. I wrote a bad review so…now they told my husband they won’t talk to me..

 

I had the same thing happen with a couple of IL dealers as I live in IA. Ended up getting mine from a dealer in OK.

 

 

We bought my Palisade in Tennessee and we live in Arkansas. We have purchased most of the cars that we have owned from outside of our state. I believe what you are being told is garbage.

 

Tell your local dealer, where the car is. They can DX the car to your local dealer.

 

Live in Indiana, bought in Ohio.

 

Not sure if my post posted…we bought our Palisade in Tennessee and we live in Arkansas. We have bought several vehicles out of state.

 

I live in NY and purchased my Palisades in NJ, with out any problems. However manufacturers in some cases require dealers to only sale in their perspective AOR or face allocation penalties. This keeps it fair for a dealers not to lose business to dealers outside their market.

 

As others said this may be new policy. But I doubt it. I purchase Palisade from Checker Flag Virginia Beach 2020 and I live out of state.No problem

 

They tried the same thing with me. I wasn’t out of state either. I did buy my car from them, but I encourage you to find another dealership. This is the worst dealership I’ve ever dealt with, shystie!

 

Totally incorrect--Bought mine in Northern Ohio and I live 5 hours away in Central KY. Had another offer for one in Tampa. I'd look for another dealer, rather than one that's already lying to you!

 

OK can’t believe Hyundai has anything to do with this, sure sounds like a dealer practice.. Dealers buy the cars so they do own them and then resell to us. Why would Hyundai care where the cars goes, they already sold it..
Actually I heard a person in Canada bought a Palisade in the US which to me that seems more complicated than across state lines..

 

I live full time in Alaska and purchased a new Palisade in Missoula MT in November. We registered the car in Alaska (but keep it at our daughter's home in Montana).

 

I purchased a 2022 Calligraphy Edition on February 5th. Though the purchase was in my home state of NC, I was in contact with, and even offered vehicles from other states. I simply went with whomever came up with the color scheme that I wanted the quickest. Had one of the dealerships in one of the other states received the vehicle quicker, I definitely
would have purchased from another state, and those respective dealerships knew I resided in a different state. If that dealership in Va doesn't want your money, take it elsewhere. Their loss.

Might be better off looking at another brand. All though I have bought a car out of state. I live in CA and bought one in PA the car is great except for the electronics which at terrible.
