I have a 2020 Palisade I have owned for a year. Within the past 2 weeks, I have been hearing a clunking, metal tap/pop sound when I brake. It can be loud or soft. It is usually at slower speeds and it’s intermittent. It started after my oil change at the dealership. Any ideas? I wish I could upload the video.
Lug check good idea but oil change requires removing a panel under to access filter, perhaps not replaced correctly? You might even find a free wrench..no joke.
I doubt the plastic oil filter panel would make a clunking metal noise. Most likely lug nut torque if while doing the oil change they rotated the tires.
I'd start checking your receipt, to see what they did. But I agree it's probably a tire rotation job not done right. That's why I'll pass on the free maintenance. Free can be expensive some times . Good luck.
I've had something similar in the past. When braking, even at low speeds, i can feel and hear something clunk forward under the car around my feet. The car has only been to the dealer for recall work, no maintenance. But the noise comes and goes. It will appear for a couple of days, then disappear for months. I have a 2020 SEL.
The same thing just started happening on my 2020 palisade today. Approx 1 year 2 months old. Have an appointment for next Monday. Let me know what they find out it is.
Same thing just started with my 2020. I had it serviced a few weeks ago. I looked under the front of the car and noticed a piece of foam hanging out of one of the undercarriage covers. Did anyone that also had this issue figure out what it was and get it fixed?
FWIW, the noise has stopped. Still makes me nervous as to what it could have been. Going to take it in to the dealer for a once over, but unfortunately getting an appointment is not easy in my area - Have to wait a month.
Have a 2022 palisade and experiencing this issue when decelerating which happens to be when I hit the brakes. If anyone found a resolution I'd love an update. I'll post here later this month after I get mine checked out at the dealership.

So I did take it to the dealership at Holler Hyundai in Orlando. The dealership said its a "normal" sound. The sound happens when the caliper is "adjusting" to a smaller brake disk given wear.
I have owned a few cars now. Nothing normal about that sound. Will need to have it inspected elsewhere unfortunately.
