ABS wheel speed sensor

I just had an issue yesterday. Turned on the vehicle, updates appeared on the screen, but nothing ever updated. So I drove off. Not long after, every known error message seemed to pop up on dash. About 30 minutes later, the check engine light comes on. At this point I have no power steering and the vehicle would occasionally act jerky sometimes when I took my foot off the accelerator, but not every time.

I was able to get the vehicle into the dealer today and I was told my ABS wheel speed sensor was damaged. They thought I might have hit something, but that wasn't the case. Then they thought maybe the wire was chewed through by a rodent. I was shown a photo and the wire looked like a clean break. Wondering if it's possible the wire could have been defective and snapped somehow. Of course its not covered by the warranty that Hyundai hangs their hat on. Now I'm the hook for a repair job of over $600.

Thought I'd reach out here. Looks like there is a lawsuit over failing ABS systems, but it states only in New York and Ohio.

Thanks in advance if anybody has insight on this. Or if what the dealer is telling me is indeed valid.

Zoomed this in a bit. Green end is a very clean break. No fraying - that was done by sidecutters. Ask how I know :)

The other end not so much - but also looks abraised around the end of the insulation in efforts to get the fraying. The difference in the 2 ends does not compute. Sorry - but I think someone intentionally did this. Do you have any enemies? If not - then perhaps a shop.
