Just wanted to share this in case anyone else has a similar issue. I have 20k miles on my car now but at around 12-15k miles started to notice a thumping noise coming from the rear end when starting from a stop and turning. It is more pronounced after driving for a while and everything is warmed up. It’s definitely related to the drivetrain and not a suspension issue. I mentioned this during my last service visit at 15k miles, but of course they couldn’t reproduce. Now that it’s getting worse, I’m getting more concerned. Took matters into my own hands before a recent trip by changing out the rear diff oil. The used oil had a lot of metal shavings in it. New fluid did not improve anything which makes me believe the problem could potentially be the diff or maybe the awd coupler not engaging smoothly. I’ve tried to get a service appointment but they are 4 weeks out and can’t guarantee it will even be looked at for 2 weeks once they have it. No loaners available. I called another local dealer and the same thing. Hyundai service is slammed with ignition lock repairs. Opened a case with Hyundai over the lack of service support. I’m really disappointed that there is little to no concern given to customers even of the highest tier of their product offerings. Having traded in a mechanically sound vehicle for them to flip and make money on is the icing on the cake. Now I’m just venting so I’ll leave it at that. As a company, budgets should be allocated to address the repair/ recall backlog. There should be more service staff with a 2nd shift. I’m lucky my car is just causing an annoyance at this point. I feel bad for those who are stuck without transportation.
I have a 2023 Palisade. At 50,000 miles, I had the 4WD coupling replaced by the dealer under warranty. After another 30,000 miles, it broke down again, so I replaced it with a genuine one. However, after another 12,000 miles, the same symptoms started to appear again. I think this is a Hyundai manufacturer issue.
