Has anyone heard from Hyundai regarding a timeline when the US market will see a solution for 2023 Palisade tow hitch and harness problem? I will contacting my local dealership and cooperate to see if I can get an answer.
If you ordered the part from canada it is an official Hyundai part. Comes in a box with their name on it. Instructions have their name on them. As official as you can get. Which hitch did you order?Well...ordered my wiring harness and hitch assembly today....hope it all works out. Side note, heard back from my salesman today and he said they DO NOT know of any Hyundai parts available for separate purchase and the ones that I showed him that I found they WILL NOT install unless they are "official" Hyundai parts. I can go ahead and purchase and have install the parts and they will reimburse me for my costs.
I ordered the Curt hitch from etrailer.com. I should have it by this thursday they said.If you ordered the part from canada it is an official Hyundai part. Comes in a box with their name on it. Instructions have their name on them. As official as you can get. Which hitch did you order?
How did it go??...I received my hitch on Wednesday and now just waiting on the wiring....I have the same hitch. Installing it tomorrow.
Went easy. I had help to lift it up and put bolts in. Drop that cover behind driver wheel. Remove the 3 rubber hangers. Put a strap under exhaust for support. I Did put some bolts in outside in because it was easier. Wait on wiring since you need to be in that cover to feed wires through a rubber grommet up into car. I did it on garage floor without a lift or jacking the car. I am 6' 220 so not small and there is plenty of room. A little finagling to get bolts in on exhaust side but nothing serious. Figure out how you are going to attach the wiring plug to the hitch or car and have the stuff ready. I did wiring awhile ago and just did hitch 2 days ago. I still have not decided how to attach plug and might have to mod the bracket because i did not feed wires through it beforehand. lolHow did it go??...I received my hitch on Wednesday and now just waiting on the wiring....
When you said drop the cover behind the driver wheel , do you mean the spare tire or actually near the front driver wheel? I am assuming the wiring that is coming from Canada is the ability to plug & play in the back near where the hitch is attached and not having to fish the wire all the way to the front. I got off of etrailer an actually bracket for the 7pin housing that is can be attached to the hitch tubing. https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Draw-Tite/18159.htmlWent easy. Good video on etrailer.
Don't need many tools for hitch. Push pin remover, 14MM for cover behind wheel 17 and 19 MM (I like 6 point) sockets for the hitch. 19 MM open end wrench
It is plug and play. I am sure it is the same part that will eventually be released in the US.When you said drop the cover behind the driver wheel , do you mean the spare tire or actually near the front driver wheel? that is great to know about the wiring...you recall how long it took for it to come from Canada from when you ordered it??It is plug and play. I am sure it is the same part that will eventually be released in the US.
There is a black plastic cover behind the driver rear wheel. it is held on with 2 plastic 14mm nuts and 3 of those push pin type things used to trim.
I forgot that I also took out the spare tire. That is very easy. I was surprised with the effort needed. They must have good gearing on the winch part.
The plug for the wiring used to be under that black plastic cover. It has been moved. You need to remove the little cargo thing at the rear and you will find the plug under there tied up to some wiring on the left side that goes through the grommet. You will just have to cut that and fish the wires from the "plug" up into the car. easy. The directions that come with the wiring harness part are very good and detailed. One thing I did not hook up the ground to where they had in the instructions. That required to remove more parts of the interior. I just added some wire to it and connected it to a different bold in the frame.
I looked at that bracket. But the tubes are actually pretty far up behind the bumper. Would have to really get down to plug into it. You can look at the hitch and see how far the reciever drops down. That is setting up real close to the bumper. You can measure how far up behind the bumper the tubes will be. The other thing would be how long your wire on the trailer is. How much slack do you have to play with and where you can put the plug on the car. If you look at the pictures at etrailer you see it attached to hitches where the tube part is exposed below the bumper.
I am looking at making something to attach the the square part of the hitch. The kit comes with a little square piece to put the plug in and then attach to something. In the past would have been the metal bumper. But those are gone these days.
All of those brackets are designed to feed the plug into them from the front and attach the plug to them, then attach the bracket to some support. Since I already have the wiring run I cannot do that. Oversight. I will probably have to cut a slot in a bracket to get wire in and hopefully when the plug is in there tight it will not matter.
Don't remember exactly. It spent a few days in customs. But they shipped quickly and once it cleared customs was only a couple days.that is great to know about the wiring...you recall how long it took for it to come from Canada from when you ordered it??
And yes the video by etrailer is pretty good and informative.
That's not too bad...I'd figure longer...so hopefully mine will be hereby the end of the month. I ordered it last week thursday.Don't remember exactly. It spent a few days in customs. But they shipped quickly and once it cleared customs was only a couple days.
I found some emails. Was shipped on 11/24, delivered 12/6 . spent most of the time in customs.
You can track it. Tracking on their website only shows the canadian part. But mine somewhere had the tracking number for the USPS also and if you go to their site and track there was more information available. If I remember correctly. That's not too bad...I'd figure longer...so hopefully mine will be hereby the end of the month. I ordered it last week thursday.
Guess lots of Americans are trying to get it since US has not released it.So...I ordered my tow hitch harness assembly from Hyundai Parts in Canada and come to find out that it is BACK ORDERED til mid February...Ordered it 8 days ago...
Can you attach a picture of the instructions for the wire harness from Canada? This is where I bought mine.Even though everything says 85 shipping I was not charged that. Even one of the emails had the bigger amount, but was only charged a smaller amount to the credit card. It did take it several days to get through customs. But it has good instructions and fairly easy to install.S8F67AC800 - Hyundai Tow hitch harness | Hyundai Parts Pro

I am out of town and do not have access. But I believe that user CanadianBacon did post pics of it in one of the hitch threads here. Can you attach a picture of the instructions for the wire harness from Canada?
I think may people are. And it seems that is what Hyundai is coming out with. There is a picture somewhere here in the forums. I put the Curt one on for now. But it was so simple I will swap it out for a factory one when they are available.I am interested in a hitch that fits into the cutout of the calligraphy bumper. I'm not a fan of it hanging below the bumper.
