Sounds like the station you first went to has problems with their nozzles... Try a few more different stations to see...
I also thought that it was the gas station at first, but will the pump cause the gas not to go in at all? I actually waited a bit, and the gas was just sitting there at the top of the neck of the gas tank, kind a like water in the clogged sink.Sounds like the station you first went to has problems with their nozzles... Because the nozzles aren't venting like they're supposed to so the fuel is getting locked in the neck preventing it from filling properly... This is what when you went to another station you filled up with no problems...I also thought that it was the gas station at first, but will the pump cause the gas not to go in at all? Thanks, never paid attention to the different nozzle's. Will try to keep an eye on them and see if I can determine which ones are causing an issue.happens to me in CA as well with the CAFE sealed vapor recovery nozzles, I typically have to pull the neck back on them to prevent the vapor lock. Not just on my Palisade, but on every vehicle I have.
when I travel out of CA, I never have the issue.

yeah the CA nozzles are $hit. and worthless since they lock up and you have to pull back the neck which completely circumvents the "recapture" features. Thanks, never paid attention to the different nozzle's. Will try to keep an eye on them and see if I can determine which ones are causing an issue.
Same here now that I think about it when I bought the car a months ago the dealer said the tank was full and I got in the car and it was 3/4 so they filled it back up to full. Fast forward a few days later I drive it for a week I fill up gas same thing it stopped I got in the car it was 3/4 again. When at Costco I am holding the handle to fill up now every timehappens to me in CA as well with the CAFE sealed vapor recovery nozzles, I typically have to pull the neck back on them to prevent the vapor lock. The joys of living in California, not to mention the actual price of gas ⛽Same here now that I think about it when I bought the car a months ago the dealer said the tank was full and I got in the car and it was 3/4 so they filled it back up to full. Except for Maricopa and Pima counties…I think cars newer then 3-4 years old get a pass during that time. Here in my part of AZ, we have the nozzles like 1965. We also have NO smog checks here.....
That has to do with your previous mpg.. Nothing to do with the station or pumps..Depending On what Sheetz I use, when I fill up the tank can show anywhere from 397 miles to empty to 421. makes no sense
Odd situation, it first sounds like a filling stating problem but I don’t like the way you could see the gas puddling? In the fill neck. To me that leaves the filling station out. i’m wondering how you could see down the neck of the filling tube??? I would try several other filling stations first, I once worked a filling station back in the day when we all had full service and there is a pressure shutoff on the pumps which could be set too sensitive.. BUT then they should be having trouble with other customers which you don’t know…If it were the vehicle you would think it would happen at other stations, especially filling on max flow setting.. Please keep us posted on what you find out….Had an issue filling up a gas tank. Car has less than 500 miles, first time I tried to fill up, the pump shut off at little over 3/4 of a tank. I live in NJ where we can’t pump our own gas, so left home with not completely full tank of gas. I didn’t think much of it until it happened again the next time I needed gas (same gas station), but this time, the pump shut off at about 1/4 of a tank, just after few gallons and no matter what the attendant tried, the car wouldn’t take any more gas. I could see the gas pooling at the top of the neck of the gas tank and just overflowing and not going in. Had to leave, drove few miles to a different gas station and was able to fill up. I’m a bit concerned as this has the potential of leaving me stranded at the side of the road. Has this happened to anyone? I’ll wait till I have to fill up again to determine if I should take it in for service but wanted to ask if this is a common thing and if it happened to anyone else. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Similar occurrence with our old 300C. If you filled it over 3/4 tank of gas, it would hiccup and sputter. Once it ”burped” everything was fine. It used to peeve me that I couldn’t fill the tank to the hilt, like I do now.I used to have an old 86 Ford Bronco that did that all the time. We would just shake the truck side to side while filling it and it would continue filling. Sometimes we could get it to burp. It was caused by air pockets in the tank. Some pockets were worth 4-5 gallons. I am guessing there might be a ridge in the top of the Palisade tank causing back pressure with faster filling nozzles. I witnessed the same thing on mine on the first full up when it triggered the shutoff 3 different times. Shook the car and it kept going.
I had a 2005 300c SRT and the problem it had was with the charcol vapor canister, known issue and a recall on the gas tank, the tank would slosh around and get liquid fuel into the vapor recovery canister and vapor lock the fuel system.Similar occurrence with our old 300C.
