Turns out I have a faulty driver side airbag and they have to replace the whole thing. Yikes. Saying they can’t get my part in until end of April. Looking up stuff this could be considered lemon lawed. Anyone with any experience?
Also- they gave me a Santa Fe and we need a 3rd row for our family. Said their hands are tied. Anyone have experience with this? I am going to call up Hyundai Customer Service themselves tomorrow bc this is unacceptable. We want a like sized car.
thanks in advance!

Lemon Laws are state specific.

I did 2 buy-backs with GM 2010 Avalanche and 2012 Camaro. it's a process and there are very specific requirements that have to be met for it to be a lemon, but you can open a case with the manufacturer and see if they are willing to do a voluntary buy back.

With GM, I never got to court, in both cases I had them dead to rights and they knew it, they wouldn't even go to arbitration, they made me an offer within 10 days. In both cases they gave me a full refund of the purchase price, all interest paid, all maintenance paid, all vehicle registration paid, they made it as if I had never owned the vehicle, 100% reimbursement for all expenses related to the vehicle that I could prove with receipts.

Yes I’m in California so luckily the best for owners lemon laws in the country. If the dealer has my car for over 30 days consecutively to fix it which they will then we qualify from my understanding. Not that I really WANT to do this but I’m pretty scared about the fact that the dashboard had 0 mention of the airbags, and only bc we looked not an alert that popped up we saw a defect. It took forever for me to get my AWD Calligraphy 😩

Any tips for getting them to lemon it?
you have to start with opening a case with Hyundai Corp for a buy back, but that can only happen after you have met the requirements for a buy back.

if you want to try without an attorney, they will likely open a case and go to arbitration. The arbitrator will decide if lemon law has been met. It could end there, or you might have to go court in which case you would need a lemon law attorney.

in both of my cases against GM, I was well past the lemon law requirements, my Avalanche they had for over 90 days over 5 visits for the same issue, my Camaro they had for 91 days over 1 visit for the same issue, then they had it again for 67 days for the same issue a year later, so even though the car was >2 years old I met the lemon law requirements after the first visit, but didn't force the issue until the second.

sad part is the Camaro was agreed replacement for the Avalanche. I decided after the Camaro I was done with GM.

I was done with GM about 20 years ago. Nothing but problems. 23 Cali is my first Hyundai but my daughter has a 14 year old 09 Elantra that she's abused and it's still going strong even in the salt belt. 🤞
